Seasoned Expediter
Hi folks, I'm Scott. I'm a newbie driver, age 40, class A with no endorsements as of yet. I drove for CRST Van Expedited for a short while, doing 53' van (not the best training or employment experience one could ever hope for). Since leaving CRST, I've been driving 48' flatbed with a buddy of mine (owner operator). I've got about 6 months under my belt. I've driven several Freightliners, one Pete and a Volvo....all straight 10 speeds. I can float the gears just fine, usually without even looking at the tach. My ex-father-in-law operates his own construction & tree business, so diesel equipment is nothing new for me. I have an engineering background, but the economy is shot and I really want to see all the beautiful places within the lower 48 states. I like traveling, so I got my CDL. I love motorcycles, radio electronics, R/C aircraft & helicopters. I've been an FCC licensed HAM radio operator for about 20 years; ex-military radio specialist as well. I also did my share as a diesel service tech at 2 Freightliner dealerships; as well as marine, motorcycles, cars, hot rods, locomotive and helicopters. It's safe to say that I've been around some moving parts and electrons. There are very few things I can't troubleshoot, fix, modify, build or fabricate in the realms of electrical, mechanical and electronics. I'm definitely NOT a carpenter! I also love nature, wildlife, hiking, exploring, sightseeing, ocean boating & deep sea fishing. I've adamantly decided to seek expedited STRAIGHT TRUCK work, mainly because I find it very cumbersome to back/reverse a long trailer in tight spaces, especially in poor weather conditions. Why live with the added worry, stress & aggravation if I can make just as much money driving a straight truck??? I've been divorced a few years now, but hopefully at some point I'll meet someone of the fairer gender who likes traveling as much as I do. For the present, I'll be teaming with my buddy Todd (a locally experienced class B operator), so he can get his feet wet with some 48 state OTR experience. I'd rather be driving with a lady driver, but I think all good things spring from humble beginnings. Anyway, I've babbled on enough, so have a great day and drive safely!
