GPS

There are maps that list bridge heights. To be safe, measure your truck and know your clearances. To my knowledge there are no GPS systems that warn you. Get out and look when in doubt. Use a spotter when possible, drop your air suspension if you can. Don't rely on someone on the sidewalk telling you, "yeah you'll fit, trucks go under that bridge all the time". I hate that one! Best of luck, and I quess you could always use a pole on your front bumper like the oversized loads escorts use? Just a thought!

Oh Yea,

I have just the ticket!
I use Co-Pilot Truck, like the name says, it's designed for the big truck. I love it, wouldn't think of leaving home without it. It warns you of low bridges, actually, it does just about everything you need it to do. The shortest way, most practical, figures your fuel cost, tells you your eta.

Just go to www.alk.com

Most important as mentioned, know your truck height. Don't always go by the posted height either. In NY and IL they don't change the signs after they pave the roads. Could be as much as 2 or 3 inches off. Don't forget as winter approaches that if you are riding on the ice and snow you as well may be adding a couple of inches. An easy place for something bad to happen.
