I always go to the CLC web site and book the room that way you don't have to make a bunch of phone calls but i may get a room 2 times a year so its no big deal for me anyway

Well if paying more for getting less twice a year appeals to you,go for it.

My experience has been that some of the simple travel lodges offer as good or better a discount with a commercial license, once you figure in the 4.95 handling charge. I hear some of the "extended stay" type accommodations have good overnight rates with CLC, or at least they used to. I've never tried it in one.

DD: In the 3 years I've used the CLC card, the only 2 places that stopped taking it both specified the carrier listed on the card, not CL. Still, if it gets to be a hassle, the reminder that it's not the only way to skin a cat is a good one - thanks.

We normally just pick a motel or two in an area and ask if they have the CLC. Sometimes it's better and sometimes not. We use it when we can, we will look more at the online things. Layoutshooter
