Ford E350 gas miles question

Can somebody tell me at what speed can I get the best miles per gallon ,with a Ford E350 ,5,4 V8,from 1999? Thank you!

look up online what rpm max torque is and run about 200 rpm under it in over drive you will probably find it some where between 58 and 64 mph depending on your rear ratio also wind and inclines and other road obstacles will of course lower your mpg. anything much over 60 and wind becomes a bigger factor on fuel mileage. I have a 06 with a duramax and at 58 mph I get the best mileage approx 24-25mpg. Hopes this helps

Of course if this truck was not so heavy and I did not have rooftop air I could get better mileage. but the a/c and my sleeper are well worth getting the lower mileage.

my best mileage comes at 60/2k rpm with the 4.6. 16-high 18's.

prolly 2k is your spot also.

Thanks. The problem is that I do not have an RPM meter...

It will have to be trial & error. My van doesn't have RPM indicator or Cruise control. 60 - 62,3 MPH gets my best milage. In the Van & also a 1999 F 250 super duty 6 speed which has cruise control.
