Interesting. Candidates must be licensed ham radio operator. This is not my ad. I just found it and found it interesting due to the ham radio requirement.

I am looking for a codriver to run for .... on cross country runs, out of Charlotte, NC. I am looking for someone who has at least one year of experience, no accidents or citations, a good work ethic, and a general class or higher amateur radio license.

The truck is a Volvo VN 670, 485 Cummins, 13sp Eaton transmission, equipped with a Television, Refrigerator, and complete HF/VHF radio station. The radio equipment includes an Icom IC-7000, which will soon be run into a Scorpion Antenna mounted on a Rig Guard protection device. Also, an Icom ID-880H for VHF/UHF FM and D-Star.

The pay is .44cpm split, with approximately 4000 to 5000 miles weekly from Charlotte to points west, including the Los Angeles, CA area.

Thats decent money.

If it's .44 to each driver, yes. When the ad says "44 CPM split", I wonder if that means 22 cents to each driver. At 50 MPH, that's $11/hour. Not a big pot of cash, IMHO...

If they did 4000 miles it would be $1760 split or $880 each. If they did 5000 miles it would be $2200 split or $1100 each.

It's not for me, and I have nothing to do with it, other than finding it interesting that a ham radio license is a requirement.

4,000 miles in a truck with a ham radio blaring, if you are not an operator, might be punishment!

You can look at it two ways...both come out the same and are fair. You can look it at as if your getting ,44/mile for all the miles you drive personally.....or you can figure your getting .22/mile for the miles you drive + .22/mile for the miles driven by the other driver. You can't really expect the owner to pay you while your sleeping? I know some will argue that point, but they will likely be arguing their position to someone at the unemployment office.

Well I have two teams running now and a third just starting. They run 12k to 15k a month depending on the weather and how long a trip takes. They split 60c a mile. You do the math. I don't have unhappy drivers. Two are husband and wife. Also they have a bonus plan if they make another turn in a month. They run the northwest, if they have to chain I give them an extra $10 bucks everytime they have too. That's alot more than $800 bucks.
