That includes:
If the Feds had a National Energy Plan that would ensure enough gas and deisel for domestic demand and then export what is left over..but oh no they export first and we get whats left!!

Back in the 70's when Trudeau was PM of Canada he instituted the National Energy Act ...wasn't a popular move with the oil giants but it cut off ALL exports till the oil crisis was over and stabilized prices in Canada and didn't hurt the economy, only the oil giants bottomline.

>I thought we had one?

ummmm....It doesn't seem to be working too well...

Looking at the profits of Exxon, Mobile and Shell....seems to be working for them...

um... profits have ZERO to do with an energy plan.

What has to do with it is infrastructure planning, mass transit and (cough) alternate energy.

We have ZERO concern about putting money into mass transit like we should. If you have ever live here for a while, you will know that they have spent millions of dollars on studies for a regional mass transit system at the same time we have the highest subsidize bus system in the world, even the Soviets didn't have such a system. Instead of worrying about which color is effected by the rails that go down Woodward or Gratiot, they need just to build the thing.

We are worried about building bridges instead of fixing the present funding system where the money needs to go to the roads and highways instead of political pet projects. It takes energy to move things across the road with pots holes in comparison to smooth roads.

If we had a real energy plan, we would have federally mandated tax relief for all aspects of alternate energy. let the companies like Sharp, BP and others who build solar panels not to pay a penny in taxes so to produce more of them at a bigger savings. Cut property taxes by federal mandate for home owners and businesses who use solar panels, wind power and solar heating to encourage the use of them.

But again, what energy plan?

Doesn't help that we can't use our own oil. Thank the EPA for that.

But diesel still costs more in Canada than in the U.S.

Crazy...thats the taxes on the fuel....I was referring to the 70's supposed energy crisis

All things considered gas was only .99 Can the other day at a brand name outlet so it would be a few cents cheaper at a discount place. Consider an even buck and muliply by 3.8= $3.76 a gallon The U.S prices have somehow gone way up and the Canadian price is stabilized.
