Do you use PrePass?

I have it. I find it very useful. I've been passed by trucks and maybe 10-15 miles later as I roll by the scales I see them in the line. Another 10-20 miles up the road they come roaring by again. I just think about the money I'm saving on fuel and the extra time I have to get to my appointment. I'm going to get the one I can't remember the name of from University of Kentucky also since it works in some states where PrePass doesn't.

We have PrePass and Norpass and love them both. We would not run very far without our PrePass it is worth every penny. We bought the Norpass last year at the Louisville truck show and it is very inexpensive. You pay one fee and that is good for ten years. We have even used the Norpass up here in Oregon and I have heard it will work places in Canada but have not tried that out yet. This is the site for NorPass http://www4.norpass.net/index.htm

What are the exact costs envolved?
How does prepass work? I have read it signals with an OK to bypass. But, do they weigh you on the fly or what?
Thanks,
Laura

No they don't weigh you on the fly that I know of. You get a Red/Yellow/ Or Green light after passing the first Tower. I have had mine for a year and a half and never seen a yellow. Had 3 Red lights in that time. Guess where that was. OHIO. LOL. You will like it for sure and its only $14.95 a month..Be Safe out there......Butch :D :D :D

I believe that Advantage 75 is Norpass. You apply for the transponder at the University of Kentucky.

We use something that is called Best Pass. It combines ezpass, norpass and prepass. We have it in all of our trucks and it is nice....no more worrying about toll receipts etc....and fewer stops at scales for trucks. If you want more info about it let me know.

Charlotte,

How do you pay for the Best Pass? With FedEx we get a discount at PrePass. Then with the EzPass we just load it on the fly when we get a low balance signal. The NorPass we just bought for a one time fee and that is good for ten years. We have really debated on gettting the Best Pass but do not know if it will be better then what we have. Can you please share you opinion on how you feel on this?

Thanks
Linda

Could you send me some information on the Best Pass. Currently my trucks have EZ Pass and I am ready to get the Pre Pass. Just checking out all of my options before I make any decisions. Also, how do I apply for NorPass at the University of KY? Is there a web site for that or a phone number I can call? Appreciate everyone's help and information.

Trish,

I posted in a earlier post Norpass's web site. You should be able to download the application and send it it. I believe they have to have a copy of your registration also. One thing we have heard about is do not put PrePass and Norpass side by side on the windshield. Can cause a conflict. We have EzPass between the two and have not had any problems.

The prepass info is on the PrePass web siter at:

http://prepass.com/

Like others in this thread, Diane and I find PrePass to be a beneficial tool. It saves time. It saves fuel. And every time you can bypass a scale instead of stopping in, is one less time you may run into a scale cop who may be having a bad day or is acting less than professional. Even the good ones will delay you if they decide to pull you in for an inspection. We love it when the green light blinks on our PrePass transponder. Not counting the closed scales, we get greens way more often than reds.

Before we got PrePass, we heard two things about it. One was that because FedEx Custom Critical transports HAZMAT, their PrePass-equipped trucks get pulled in more often. The other was that because FedEx Custom Critical is known to be a high-compliance carrier, their PrePass-equipped trucks get pulled in less often.

I have no idea if either statement is true. I can only say that in our 2006 model-year truck, we get green-lighted through most scales most of the time.

So sorry guys....I have not checked forums lately...been running like crazy and got a couple days layover in Shreveport and been knocking down the poker tables. I sent Greg an email but here is what I said:

Sorry for not responding to your post...lol been running like mad and stopped for a few days of poker in Shreveport...

Best Pass wouyld be phone number 518-458-9696. Ask for Richard Kellie. He can give you info and send all stuff to you. I have notseen a web site for them. It is very cool...they also give you a charge card for Ohio so that you do not pay cash for ohio tolls cause they are on no system like ezpass. Any questions please send me an email to [email protected]. Sorry again for taking so long.

I think Best Pass is the way to go.

We have Norpass, prepass, and Ezpass.
We get a charge card for Ohio because Ohio is not on the ezpass system.
We get billed once a month for all items and is directly out of our account so I do not have to worry about sending in anything ( although you can if you do not want it set up automatically)
We get the toll statement showing where our trucks went thru that is in excel and pdf format.
