I'm finding that getting in has to be proactive, so to get qualified with the eo companies are the orientations by invitation or can you just show up. Please inform me.

Orientation is to acquaint you with the carrier you've agreed to sign on with, and vice versa, so you must first talk to a recruiter to be 'invited'.

Before you would go to an orientation you'd fill out a detailed application and go through their screening process. It takes a fair amount of time to complete. You couldn't show up Monday morning and be screened and ready to haul freight by the end of orientation so there'd be no point in just showing up. I doubt any of them would let you sit through orientation just to check out if you'd want to run for them and do the paperwork etc. afterward although some of the smaller companies might. If you read back at least a year in the general, newbies and recruiter forums you should get a fairly good idea about the various companies.

Also there is the fact that at Panther there is a 150$ charge for orientation......so it is best to be qualified BEFORE you get there.

I'm coming with no experience, but true desire and my wife's ok (she intends to come out next year, Ill take the bump and the bruises).
With the climate out there does that keep folks from dealing with you.
