Death by DeSantis

DeSantis hits yet another one out of the park for everyday Americans with legislation dealing with woke financial practices by big banks and other major financial corporations engaging in environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. This would help prevent the denial of financial services or payment systems for businesses like gun manufacturers, or individuals who refuse to put solar panels on their homes.

"His bill, which will be introduced formally during the 2023 legislative session, would "Prohibit big banks, credit card companies and money transmitters from discriminating against customers for their religious, political, or social beliefs." ...

ESG has been used to discriminate against those who hold social and political views corporate leaders don’t like. For example, the conservative group Moms for Liberty claims payment processor PayPal froze its assets because of the organization’s ideological views.

DeSantis’s proposed legislation, which was rolled out in partnership with Florida’s incoming speaker of the House, Rep. Paul Renner, would put pressure on investment management firms to avoid ESG by preventing many of Florida’s public investments from being used to promote ESG. It would also prohibit banks from using ESG metrics to discriminate against customers on the basis of their religious, political or social beliefs."

I never thought I would see the day when people who are trying to treat other Americans with more tolerance would get put down like the Republicans have chosen to do.

Where have you been hiding?
It's been like that since Trump came into the picture.
At least before, we could agree to disagree, but the Rabid Right has become so full of hate, it boggles the mind.

Democrats: you can now sue gun manufacturers for someone killing someone.
Republicans: ok then you can sue car manufacturers for drunk driving deaths.
Democrats: that's racist.

Democrats pull the racist card with every thing.
Republicans don't........
That's the difference between the partys now.
People are tired of Democrats harping about trump and not getting issues fixed like the rise of gas prices and utilities.....and now taxes.

Can you be more specific? Surely you're not talking about something like the "tolerance" of men who want to participate in women's sports or put on drag queen shows for children? An example or two would help understand your point.

The Left has demonstrated a lot more hate and intolerance than that, and it actually started before Trump. College campuses have been shouting down and denying access to conservative speakers and student organizations for many years. Once the Trump campaign started, who was physically and verbally attacking people wearing Trump or MAGA hats or t-shirts in public? Who was harassing and verbally abusing conservative politicians and candidates at restaurants and other public places, not to mention their private residences? How about the vitriolic hatred spewed upon then SCOTUS candidate Kavanaugh and his family during his confirmation hearings, which was especially enabled by the libel and slander orchestrated by Democrats on the committee?

The insane hatred from the Left for Trump has spread from the candidate to not only the voters and anyone who supported him, but also to Republicans in general and conservatives in particular. The mainstream media and social sites like Facebook have played a big part in this polarization of the country, and this strategy comes straight out of the liberal bible, Rules for Radicals: "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it and polarize it". The Left is living off emotion, not ideas - and a lot of that emotion is hatred for anything they don't embrace.

How would this apply to say a straight married couple who operate a bakery and want to discriminate against gay people because of the religious and social beliefs the bakery owners have? Specifically, they refuse to take an order for a wedding cake for a same-sex wedding.

How would this apply to a private, for-profit school that wanted to keep certain books in its library and require its students to read, books some conservative Republicans see fit to ban from public schools?

A bakery is privately owned.
A school is state owned....but a private school still have to follow state teaching guidelines but can choose what to have in a library.
Business owners have the right to refuse service.

Both the bakery and the private school would have access to financial services, regardless of their political or social beliefs. The same would apply to manufacturers of firearms or windmills.

Business owners do not have the right to refuse service, at least not in Florida under the laws established by DeSantis and the legislature at his behest.

It is specifically prohibited by law for a Florida business to refuse service to anyone based on vaccination status. It is even prohibited for a business to ask a potential customer what their vaccination status is.

If your rude to a employee then they can kick you out and refuse you service.
If you disturb customers then you can be refused service.

Florida is packed with gated communities that are majority Republican. Most prominent example is The Villages.
I think he’s referring to the ones that live in gated communities and other insulated enclaves far removed from the mess that they help promulgate with their woke voting.
