To fight for Handgun Ban....

Typical Thuggery from Chi-town....what you want to bet rahm and barry are behind this stunt....

Mayor Daley Insults America In Pre-McDonald Ploy Friday, April 30, 2010 Fearful that America’s Supreme Court will soon strike down Chicago’s handgun ban, frustrated by the Illinois legislature’s rejection of his anti-gun agenda, and repudiated by American courts and legislatures over his plan to sue federally licensed manufacturers and dealers of firearms for third-party crimes, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley (D) is showing contempt for his own country’s and state’s institutions, by seeking a foreign entity to enforce his anti-gun agenda against the American people.

This week, Daley called for “redress against the gun industry” in the World Court, in The Hague, Netherlands. Forgetting or not caring who his constituents are, Daley blurted “This is coming from international mayors. They’re saying, ‘We’re tired of your guns, America.’”

Chicago Mayor Daley Wants US Gun Makers Sued in World Court

From Chicago’s WLS:

Chicago Mayor Daley Wants US Gun Makers Sued in World Court - Big Government

Since the Mayor’s getting very little done in Springfield or Washington or in the courts to expand gun control, now he wants mayors in other countries like Mexico to drag American gunmakers into the World Court in the Hague.

Daley says, “We are shipping guns there by the truckload to people to kill each other. They’re not manufactured there. And we want the drugs that come from other countries that is a conduit, like a highway through Mexico, into the United States! And we sit like we have no responsibility. We should not ship any guns to Mexico.”

I asked the Mayor what legal authority there is to sue the U.S. gun industry in the World Court. He said, “Well, that’s why we have about 12 million lawyers. You never know until you try.”

Backing up Daley is Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, one of more than a dozen mayors -- including the Mayor of Mexico City -- who signed a resolution to pursue this tactic.

Mayor Daley, now there's a fine name regardless of which generation you reference. Stupid POS should just stay over there and never come back. Another criminal in charge. Something we have way too much of now days. If there's anything lower than Illinois Democrats I don't know what it is.

Isn't there something about jurisdiction and the world court that was already decided on with the Texas case. The world court can't tell a state what to do, or for that matter a city and if they want guns, then that's not the world courts business.

By going to the world court, he is trying to create a situation that his own state could be then a target from outside. I also thought there wasn't anything binding with cases sent to the world court outside of matters between countries.

I think you are right Greg...I think Texas was going to put someone to death and the World Court tried to stop it, Texas told them to ...well they just put the guy to death anyhow....

Texas case had a serious issue of foreign nationals rights, which is not observed by Mexico. Because the guy committed a crime here, there was some sort of need to allow him access to his consulate, which I don't see a reason for it at all. He was on death row, the administration with the justice department said Texas was wrong not to overturn the conviction based on access to this consulate and Mexico, the US DoJ and the adminstration took it to the world court which ruled in favor of the criminal. Texas was told by the US federal government that they were wrong and to allow another trial with his consulate helping him but Texas said the feds had no right over a conviction of a criminal by a state and took it to the SC which said the feds have no right.

Now I always wondered if it was that important, why didn't bush pardon him anyway?

The world court is not a place where disputes are settled or law suits go to. There are a couple parts of the court, one is for issues between nations and this is where things like litigation over trade disputes happen. The other is the criminal court where people are put on trial for crimes against humanity, but that may not include terrorism by the way. And there is a third part of the court for abritation on issues that may be solved without legal suits.

Daley may have a very hard time with this one, I think that Chicago and Illinios doesn't have a treaty with the World Court or the UN unless they want to become a sovereign country on their own. So anything he brings to any part of the court may be turned away due to the fact the US government won't help on an internal issue. Mexico may sue but they will also have a hard time in the world court. I am surprised they haven't sued in US court over this faliacy, but again if they do, their supply of weapons and other things for their military will dry up quickly.
