Cop killer dead

As is so often the case, the news media publish every available detail about the perp but hardly anything about the victims and their families other than names. Here's some good bio information about these four officers. They all sound like nice people, the kind you would like to hang out with at a neighborhood picnic:

On the flip side of the coin, here's some enlightening information about the killer and his history surrounding Gov. Mike Huckabee's pardon of a guy that was obviously criminally insane:

Michelle Malkin Violent felon granted clemency by Huckabee now sought in Lakewood, WA police ambush; Update: Huck PAC posts statement; Update: Search continues; how Clemmons played Arkansas; Update: Huck whitewashes on O’Reilly (and vice vers

This sad situation seems like just another failure of the legal systems of both AR and WA. He had a list of felony convictions and charges a mile long (including the recent rape of a child) and was still loose in public. Acquaintances and family knew he was crazy and dangerous, yet nobody could do anything to get him locked up. Why the legal systems of two different states would show compassion and restraint towards somebody like this is beyond explanation.

If the statement is:

"I desire mercy and not sacrifice ..."

..... who do you He desired it from ?

And to whom was that mercy to be shown or rendered ?

Mercy is bestowed upon another by someone. It can be bestowed for MANY reasons. Maybe mercy is warrented.

An example: I would show mercy to an offender who HONESTLY had NO real chance in life. Like a young man I had in my charge when I worked at a youth lock up. He was, from one side, the most handsome young man you had ever seen. The other side of his face and body were very badly scared. From what? His MOTHER doused him with gasoline and lit him on fire. WHY? Her current stud did not want him around. While I doubt he will ever function in an open sociaty I would have been happy to put him somewhere where he could just play. Away from others since he is SO flawed, but, without the extremes of today's prisons.

Mercy is often used to salve the soul of the one who bestows that mercy, OR in some cases, to assure their own perceived superiority over others. In other words, I am better than you therefore I grant you mercy.

Mercy is NOT an endless well. The man in question was SHOWN GREAT mercy when he was not turned over the the family of that child he raped and only put in prison. Foolishness is NOT mercy, releasing him was foolish. There was no mercy shown to the public by his release and INNOCENT lives were sacrificed for NO GOOD REASON.
