While running as a fleet owner's contractor, how do we deal with the aspects of haul rate negotiations? We want to run as well and as profitably as we can, obviously not only for ourselves but our fleet owner as well. From what I've been reading here in the forums, there seems to be quite a bit of number tossing and mincing for those that choose to move and not be parked.
For an O/O I can see the obvious dilemmas.
How do dispatchers typically deal with the contractor's contractor? Do they just figure they will offer a run at a given rate and the fleet owner's guy will grab and run, or does the dispatcher expect to negotiate with the contractor's crew as a financial pro tem?
Do most fleet owners expect rate negotiations as part of driver duty? We're new here and we're trying to soak up as much info as we can. Big Thanks.
