Well given the fact that the Bloomberg article I linked to quotes many of the smartest people in the world, I'm going to take a wild guess that they've heard of the national debt. On a good day they might even think of it in terms of debt to gdp ratios and on a really good day they might even consult some of the research that's been done on the effect of debt on the economic vitality of nations. Maybe they need to be told about the debt though, I suppose it's possible that they missed it. :)

John Boehner has grown a pair? Really?

Boehner: Conservative Groups On Budget Deal Have 'Lost Credibility' - Business Insider

All the smart people in the world are the one's putting us into debt. They are the problem, not the solution.

Bloomberg? I don't trust him, or his articles, as far as I could throw either. Bloomberg is just another rich, elitist tyrant, who is just as bad, if not worse, than his tin horn lap dog in the White House, Littla Barry, is.

Boehner has not growing a "pair" he has always been part of the problem that is destroying the country. He ADDS to the debt, does NOTHING to fix anything. He is a wimp.

When did I say that these guys are a solution? I said that they are incredibly smart. Have you ever heard of quants? PHDs? Too big too fail? The fact that Wall Street runs our economy?

Somehow people on the right have to put a freakin' value judgement on everything. I've got news for you. These guys are off-the-scales smart. Wall Street is where the money is and money is a magnet for all kinds of talent. Smart doesn't mean they are good people. Smart doesn't mean they are bad people. Smart means they are smart people.

They are perfectly capable of factoring in the national debt of a country when they predict future growth.

I would not look to Wall Street folks for that answer. If you want to really know what we look like financially, look at how foreign investors and countries look at us. That is where you will find your answer.

Exactly and bond rates are the measuring stick. Our bond rates have been so low because we've been the cleanest dirty shirt in the laundry basket.

John "Grapefruits" Boehner did it!!! The House passed the budget deal!

The Senate won't be a problem I wouldn't think.

Happy New Year guys and gals! The future is getting brighter.

But what about the people who will get their unemployment cut right after Christmas?

It sucks. I'll post stats and/or graphs if you like but this is unprecedented. Typically following a recession we wait until the unemployment rate is around 5.5% to start cutting benefits. 7% is unprecedented.

What you are witnessing is the rest of the nation "getting used to" modern conservatives A) being a drag on the economy and B) not showing an ounce of compassion towards their countrymen as the economy goes through structural changes eg computers/robotics taking jobs.

I'm getting used to it too. It used to shock me. Not any more.

Umm......what you are witnessing as a drag on the economy is our debt. In case you haven't noticed, the democrats have had the majority for years now. Certainly started with Bush, but Obama has been a rolling disaster. Finally people are figuring it out. Just look at those ratings he has.
You can take comfort though in that Obama's former job czar Jeffery Emmelt(GE) sent the jobs to China to build those robots.

WF I have to ask why you keep saying Fox said. Fox doesn't say anything the people on fox do. There is a big difference.

Because they're the puppet masters.

Here, I've got a fun game for you that will cost you absolutely nothing. It's called "guess the news source". It's a simple game. Anyone can play.

It probably works best if you get most of your news from Google News. I do. I don't watch opinion tv. Garbage in, garbage out and I don't let them in.

So, every time you read a headline on Google News, you don't really have to guess the source, but you do have to pick out the ones that come from Fox News and the Wall Street Journel. Keywords will tip you off. I won't try to list all the possibilities but let's say Obama trips on a step coming off an airplane like Jerry Ford did. The other news outlets will say that he tripped on a step. Fox News will say that he disgraced America by tripping on a step. The keyword (and the sense of outrage, like somehow this man is Unamerican) is what you need to look for.

I still get it wrong sometimes and even that is useful. When a real news organization lays into Obama for something I take it seriously and actually read the article.

It's a fun little game, it costs you nothing, and in no time at all you'll see puppet strings and realize that Fox News controls what almost half of America thinks.

Ok...I'll play along. When half the nation laughs at him tripping, MSNBC will say those who laughed are racists.
They all have their slants, but you give Fox more credit than I do. I wish you were right because if you were, Obama wouldn't be president.

What is your definition of a 'real' news organization?

Honestly I haven't watched 30 minutes total of TV news in the last year. Not real sure you answered the question but that's OK.

I can't get past blaming Rupert Murdoch for turning everything he touches into a supermarket tabloid. Even the WSJ is sliding downhill.

But you do have a point. Sometimes the personalities show some backbone. I'll make an effort of trying to remember the names of those I like and don't like from Fox.

I'm off to a bad start today with my little game. I'm 0 for 1 so far. There's a story making the rounds about someone being forced to tear down a cross somewhere in CA. I guessed Fox and it was CBS. Later I read Fox's version and I thought it read like a real news story.
