Buying a used truck

So, its time to "upgrade" I have been expediting in my CV for four years now, it has been fun. Now I am looking for more regional runs (IL, WI, MI, IA, IN )

I'm looking at a used truck from RYDER but there is one thing that I'm not sure of. Engine is a C7 ( C704A 210/2200 )

What do you guys think about that particular engine ?

Ryder emailed me full seven page maintenance report, what I should be looking for? Any tips are welcome.

THX.

Why?

I do not like C7s, not one bit. No replaceable liners, a finicky valvetrain, injectors that can be wiped out by poor fuel, dirty oil, each other, or a bad HEUI pump. And they're not remarkably powerful.

These pics are out of the last one i worked on. The true cause of this catastrophe is still unknown.

Something sure did a number on the top of that piston, wow! Hard to imagine it wasn't very obvious what did it.

There was something like 100lbs of compression on three cylinders, the other three had 0. Dropped one exhaust valve. A few exhaust valve seats fell out. A few valves had what looked like gas leakage past the valve and seat so severe that 1/4" of the seat and valve had simply vaporized. A few rods were bent, and the crank was scrap. Turbo destroyed from debris going through it.

Basically, the harmonic balancer, manifolds, and bellhousing were ok, along with some bolts. Everything else was dumpster ballast.
