Bonds and his home runs

I find the entire Barry Bonds campaign to beat Aaron's record rather dumb. No one seems to care that he may have been cheating all along or that baseball has not yet tackled the other problems but the person who has the record actually seems to have the right attitude;

AP Interview: Aaron won't reconsider decision to stay away from Bonds record-breaker

NEW YORK (AP) -- Even if Barry Bonds is poised to break the home run record right there in Atlanta, Hank Aaron is not going.

Period.

"I will never reconsider my decision," Aaron told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Tuesday from his adopted hometown.

Bonds is 10 homers from matching the 755 mark that Aaron set during a 23-year career with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Aaron doesn't plan see the milestone homer in person, wherever it might happen. And that includes Atlanta, if it takes that long -- Bonds and his San Francisco Giants don't play there until mid-August.

"No, I won't be there," he said.

Asked why, Aaron said: "I traveled for 23 years, and I just get tired of traveling. I'm not going to fly to go see somebody hit a home run, no matter whether it is Barry or Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig or whoever it may be. I'm not going any place. I wish him all the luck in the world."

Aaron said he had no wisdom for Bonds as the Giants slugger pursued the mark.

"I don't have any advice whatsoever, no advice to anybody," Aaron said.

The interview largely covered a classical music composition by Richard Danielpour whose subjects are Aaron, Jackie Robinson and Josh Gibson.

Aaron for the most part declined to discuss Bonds, whose run for the record has been tainted by allegations that he has used performance-enhancing drugs.

Aaron, a Braves senior vice president, said he follows his team closely, but usually by television from home rather than going to Turner Field.

As to what he might be doing when Bonds broke the record, Aaron said, "I have no idea, probably playing golf somewhere."

If there's a place in the record book for this juiced up phony, then there should be a spot for Pete Rose. He is banned from the sport and the Hall of Fame for gambling on his own team, and Willie Mays is shunned for promoting a casino. It's a disgrace to the sport that they have let this clown continue to play after having openly taken steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs for years.

Not too interested in baseball anymore, and this is part of the reason. Change the game to bring in the fans, no matter what the cost. Same thing happened with hockey. Now it's happening to football somewhat. There's always NASCAR. Umm... no.

Well Aaron probably never took any substance to get to where he is. Most of the baseball players back in the day never were as "big" as the players are now and they did stuff back then that most people now-a-days should have no problem doing. Plus wasnt the baseball season shorter back when Hank Aaron was playing.

All these players that take stuff in order to get built instead of actually working out (why when they have clubs and parties and expensive things to buy instead).

I dont know. I like baseball but some of the stuff that surrounds it is just annoying and messed up.

Much like Hank Aaron, I will probably be on the golf course or playing GTA San Andreas when BB brakes the home run record. I couldn't care less when, or if He does it. He and numerous other players juiced up, so I can barely tolerate baseball now.

Honestly I think Aaron was not on anything, as it was with Ruth.

The issue for me is what is going on with Bond's trainer and the deal struck not to name names of the players who take steroids.

The other issue for me is the arrogance of the guy and his attitude toward people and the press. I am not applogetic to say I would rather see Baseball tank than to have more than one Barry Bond's in the league.

With that said, cheating cheapens the sport and the fans should not tolerate it at all but the fans for the most part are sheep.

Personally I don't watch baseball anymore. Ever since Tom Glavin (back
in the 90's) said he was going on strike because he only made
$7,000,000 a year. Never watched another baseball game.. we
live near Atl and used to go the games when Braves never won.
Got the Big Heads and down hill from there..

Barry Bonds will never be homerun champ to me..you can't win when
u cheat with steroids .. that's my opinion
