Blew by some scales once, on purpose. The U.S. marshals we were being escorted by told us we had too. They had more and bigger guns than the troopers did so they won. Simple.

I got pulled over for blowing by the big one coming out of Laredo. The first 2 big electronic signs were in English and the scale wasn't open, by time I got to the 3rd sign which is in spanish it had opened up. I just kept going and got pulled over, when asked why I blew by I said the signs said closed he informed me the third one said opened. I informed him that was written in some kind of gobbledy gook and I was only required to speak and read English. He just gave me a big grin and told me to have a nice day.

Haha! Good story.

I always wondered if they would pull you over if they turned the sign on after you went by. Guess I know now that they will.

I agree with what the other folks are saying: safety doesn't seem to be as important anymore, it's more about how much money can we make in fines.

True story here .
1st week in trucking ,heading down I-95 into M.D/Balt. ,that nasty scalehouse .
heavy loaded up to gross .
Trainer told me later on he decided to let me learn the hard way this time .
1st time ever traveling into a scale ,hardly ever driven on InterStates before .
off ramp sign say keep 100ft apart & 30 Mph ,then an arrow guide me to the scale plate .
cruising along across the scale at just about 30 ,!
light turn red .
locking all the breaks on the plate ,and coming to a complete stop .
at this point the trainer split a rib ,a few seconds later he just couldn't take it any more ,jumps out the door laughing his buut off at the concrete .
2 officers jumping out of the glassed office ,like they seeing a ghost train flying by ,red as hell ,shouting ,Ext.
one look at the fresh CDL ,and they let me go ...
Lucky bustard.
