I can't understand why Obama would pick a VP that dropped out a previous Presidential campaign after he was found guilty of plagiarism and lying about his academic record . This could happen to any of us . We could be blameless in a fatal accident and still have fingers pointed at us the rest of our lives . There is no way I will vote for an administration with a person like Biden on the ticket . Well at least McCain/Palin have SOME executive experinance. Obama/Biden have none. McCain did command one of the largest fighter commands in the Navy for quite while. He had a huge budget and command of a lot of fire power and personel . Not to mention he would have to, if told to, send those people into harms way and maybe to thier deaths. Has Obama EVER had a position like that? NO! Has Biden? NO. Palin did at least run a town with a work force and a budget, I think for 6 years. She has run a state for about 18 months. It had a large work force and budget. She is also Commander in Chief of the Alaska National Guard. Again. Might have to send her troops into harms way and death. Does Obama have that much experinance? NO. Does Biden? NO. I am not saying that they are the ideal ticket. I have NEVER seen a good one in my voting life. BUT, they at least have a clue. The USS Liberty and the McCain Presidential Bid

Could the USS Liberty surface as a campaign issue?

The latest news on the Liberty, the Navy spook ship attacked by Israel on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War, is that recently released National Security Agency documents are backing up what many -- including the survivors of Liberty -- have been saying for 40 years: that Israel knew full well that it was attacking -- with aerial strafing, napalm and torpedoes -- an American vessel.

You may have read it on Military.com, one of the few news sites to run the piece in total. Other than The Chicago Tribune, which came out with the story, only The Baltimore Sun picked up the piece, according to a Google search.

It will be interesting to see is whether any presidential candidates address the latest revelations, since those from both parties frequently tout longstanding ties and mutual loyalty between the U.S. and Israel.

One candidate with a real interest in this story is Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who five years ago endorsed a book, The Liberty Incident, that concluded it was a mistake. McCain's interest stems from the fact that his father, the late Adm. John S. McCain, was commander of U.S. Naval Forces, Europe, at the time, and ordered the official court of inquiry to investigate the attack.

Based on the court's findings, Adm. McCain concluded it was a case of mistaken identity. But five years ago the legal advisor to the court broke his own silence in an interview with me, calling the final report a sham, a cover-up. It was about that same time that The Liberty Incident, by A. Jay Cristol, a former Navy pilot and retired judge, hit the bookshelves.

Sen. McCain praised the book and its findings in a blurb that appeared on the back cover.

In recent months there have been more revelations about the attack and immediate aftermath, however. In June, I reported that the Navy already was calling the attack accidental in its casualty notification telegrams to next of kin even before the court of inquiry convened for the first time.

Then came the Tribune story last week, reporting that the National Security Agency's deputy director of operations in 1967 now confirms that transcripts of U.S. intercepts of Israeli communications show the Israelis knew exactly who they were attacking.

Oliver Kirby is quoted in the Trib story as recalling the Israeli pilots several times identifying the ship as American but being told to attack anyway. While some of the original transcripts and intel have disappeared, the story reports that some of it is still in U.S. government archives.

So far, calls to McCain's senate and campaign offices have not been returned.

As to the reasons I get sooooo P.Oed by some of this stuff. 1. I spent 20 years of my life doing that job,I did it well and take pride in what I did. 2. I have MANY friends still in that business and I admire thier efforts and sacrifice on my behalf. 3. I have family in the military who have in the past put it all on the line and will be again very soon. Well my Father was an intelligence advisor in Viet Nam..I was in the US Navy..actually my fathers rank was Captain in the US Air Force.My brother is a retired fed from one of those outfits .But Im sure the swill the three of us know is not anything to yours buddy..SO we bow down to you

Things are still being covered up because some of the principle players are still alive. Also documents are de-classified according to a formula. Some take longer due to the sensitivity of the programs involed. Since the business is a very long term one with programs that have working lives of over 60 years or more they remain classifed until the need to protect the sources of the intell and the agents involed no longer need protected. I have NOT released ANY classified info. I got out of the business during the Clinton reign partly because I could not in good faith work for a man who's character was SO bad that he would not have been able to get the clearences needed to do my job. Well first McCain is not selling himself as a savior, he is a POW, he is a mediocre senator, he is the last chance we have at this moment to stop Marxism and he is not selling anything about being an extension of Bush. Don’t think for a minute that I like him but knowing what a Marxist is and how they hate this country, I can’t side with Obama or the DNC for any reason.

Well WTC7? Oh yea, that’s’ a really touchy subject with me and for good reason. Most of the people were never there that claim some BS story how it was destroyed. OH yea lets believe the same fricken people who say that there has been UFO’s landing at Yankee stadium.

Look, when you learn the truth about it, you will see how wrong you are. I worked at WTC7 a year and a half before the disaster. I was there after it happened, I was briefed on what happened because my former client was in that building and I was asked to go there as part of an assessment team. There is a lot more to a simple ‘we are going to explode the building’ cr*p, first there wasn’t enough time to set any explosives up, second that the build proximity to the towers put it right into the path of debris, third the building was build after the WTC complex was planned and because of the economic environment of the times, they cheapened the building quality by cutting corners.
