Anyone Else Get Trapped In Michigan?

Great, so switching to another company doesn't make the grass greener I guess... Nothing pisses me more off than cenceled loads along the way when I already have waisted gas on it. I am waiting at home right now, wondering what this week will bring.:-(

miko,

I only drove 2 miles on the first run that canceled, paid $50.00. I drove about 20 miles on the second load, but I also got $50.00. I'll drive 25 miles or so to make $100.00 any day of the week. Don't get me wrong, but I believe in taking the bad with the good, (unless the bad becomes the norm).

Top Ten ways you know you have been in MI to long..

1 You have driven less than 400 loaded miles all week
2 Your mail is starting to show up at the detroiter
3 The shippers and recivers know you by name
4 You know all the other poor saps stuck at the truckstop by name.
5 The cashiers at the truck stop know you by name
6 The cashiers start saying "you again???"
7 Family no longer askes where you are. They know.
8 The state patrol pulls you over and says "you've been here so long your going to have to register your truck here"
9 You don't need directions anymore.
10 Your broke

Hey I've been stuck in this old economy state for over 40 years

I'm just sooo glad y'all just love my state !- for shipping anyways

Y'all telling me I should hook up w/ an out of state O/O ?

Seriously though, thnks 4 the heads up, I didn't think the Det. area was THAT bad. Yuo'd think w/ all the plants around the area, there'd be plenty of in/outbound to other states instead of lots of hopping around the metro area. EECKS !

And I love that top ten list - sad, but true, eh ?

I wish I could do some local runs even in MI. It does not even work in the Milwaukee area, that sucks lately.

They where not local runs worth a darn. Most where 30-50 miles away from where I was, and 40-50 miles away from a express center. Basically, during my stay in the fine state of MI I paid .30 more a gallon than OH or IN for fuel. I clicked off 825 miles on my van and got paid for 532. I finely got a load this morning that broght me to mile post 16 on I94 and I slipped out of the state when no one was looking. Ran all the way to chicago, where after rejecting another stinker short I scored a 650 miler to NE roughly 175 miles from home.

MI I am sure is a nice state, but business wise I must say I am going to do what contractor support told me to do. Drop and RUN. (he even suggested I go out of service to be sure I make it out)

Seems like that whole area is turning sour.
We had a team arrive in Toledo from Tulsa and the best run was a 61 miler to windsor.
The other 3 refusals were long deadheads into MI or OH for short runs.
Companies have to realize the drivers go broke with running these on a consistent basis.
We will have to broker them out tomarrow if it is the same thing.

Instead of everyone griping about how bad it is in the Detroit/Toledo area, get out as soon as you drop? Personally, I don't have a prob getting a good run out of here, and I live here. I do have a prob with Grand Rapids if there aren't any other trucks, cause they'll dh you to death for 150 milers... no thanx.

Go to either K-zoo or Fort Wayne area or head back toward Seville. Granted, I don't know a heckuva lot about vans, but the first rule is to go where the freight is.

In my case, I am not sure it is complaining.
It is more of a observation.
There are numerous options to pursue if a reasonable run doesn't materialize.
