Air con outage

Have a 04 e350 diesel,the air con compressor goes and sends metal threw the system.Ford in N.C wants 2700 dollars to replace system,i have a mechanic that could cut the labor in half or so,trouble is i don't know of anyone that makes aftermarket stuff for ford air systems.Looking for some links and person experience with products if anyone has info.Thanks in advance,left laptop at home so may be awhile til i get back here.

Truck isn't that old. Aftermarket parts could likely be had at a local NAPA or Autozone store.
Only difference is watch for whether parts are new, remanufactured, or rebuilt.

Any good autoparts store will have almost anything you need or be able to order it.

Napa I think will have everything listed in their catalog, but there may not be much of a price difference for some of the items between replacement parts and the original Ford parts.
