AIG and the Bonus

I listened to a good bit of the hearing yesterday on the radio. Two things struck me. 1: The congress people, for the most part, sucked. They are a embarssment to the country. 2: Mr Liddy has FAR more patience than I do. After the 2nd or 3rd time that one of those "demagogs" got on my case like they were getting on Mr. Liddy yesterday I would have more than likely just ripped them a new one. I guess that is why I have an Expediting business and am not in Congress, I don't "*****foot" around. I say what I think and the "heck" with what others may think!! Layoutshooter

AIG was large donors to political office holders.

The real issue for me is not AIG but what in the h*ll are we giving tarp money to foreign banks for?

Do we now own a stake in these banks, like the following banks;

Deutsche Bank AG
Societe Generale
Calyon
Rabobank
Danske
Royal Bank of Scotland
Banco Santander
Lloyds Banking Group

Where is the outrage of our tax money going to foreign companies?

The BBC got this one right, it is a world bail out plan.

I seem to remember hearing that several, if not all, of those banks you mentioned were holding mortgage based securities that AIG was holding policies on. That AIG was under a contractual obligation to pay off on those policies. I am more outraged about what lead up to this entire thing. The entire mess with Freddie and Fannie. EVERYONE in our government is responisble for this. There should be criminal investigations going on. Both parites are to blame. Both parties were involed and candidates from both parties taking campain donations. (kick backs in laymen's terms). We have to face that fact that the Federal Government is corrupt. That they are NOT doing the job that they are sent to Washington to do. They are there, for the most part, to, 1: line thier own pockets and, 2: control us, otherwise, thier own power. There, in my opinion, is where our outrage SHOULD be directed. Layoutshooter

I don't know if you are in Dingell's district but if you are, work for the opposition during the 2010 election. Get rid of these guys.

I am in Dingell-Berry's district. I do vote FOR him in the primary, and AGAINST him in the general election. For the most part, when the Dumb-O-Crats run someone against him in the primary they are far worse, I.E. MUCH futher to the left than he is. I vote for who ever the Re-Bum-LI-Cans put up each time. As for working, I am on the road most of the time so it is kind of hard for me to be very active. There is a good chance I will see Dingell on the 4th of April, at the Ducks Unlimited dinner in Monroe county. He shows up for that most years. It is not a good time for talking politics though. It is not the right venue. Also I do, for the most part anyway, agree with his stands on the Second Amendment and wildlife conservation. We part company after that. Layoutshooter

Well there has to be a time and place for everything, abusing their position and being in office for 50 plus years is an abuse, a lot of others could have been more effective in that seat than he has.

I soo agree with that. I do believe that his son will be ordained straight into that seat when his father either steps down or dies. It will be hard not to "jump" him on everything if he does so up but even the Layoutshooter understands about polite public behavior and the need to know what is proper at what occasions. Ok by me. Just retain all hunting and fishing rights on The River and Lake Erie for Michigan. I don't want to have to get a non-resident license. LOL. Layoutshooter

I bet you do PoorBoy. Greg, I thought I read somewhere that the State of Michigan has given the "right of seccession" for the seat to the Dingell family!! Have you seen that? Layoutshooter

Oh God I wish, I think we need to revisit the Toledo War, admit we made a mistake, give them Monroe and Dingell's district and then allow the UP to become it's own state. That leaves the rest of the state to deal with Levin, Stabanow and Conyers.

So I read our idiot house passed a bill to tax the AIG people, and that this will undoubtedly lead us down to other special bills to tax individuals in other industries.

So I read just that Walmart will be handing to its hourly employees $2B in bonuses.... OK why don't we tax them too?

I sure hope they fight that in the courts. That is a VERY dangerous precident to set. The Federal government has NO authority under the Constitution to set those contracts aside or engage in special taxation on individuals. They also have no right or authority to tax in retro-spect. Of course, this administration does not believe in or believe that he is bound by the Constitution. Layoutshooter

But Barney Frank said they have the right.

IF I was working for AIG, I would be filing my court papers as soon as this passes, suing AIG in Connecticut state court over breach of contract on being force to return the money.

I have a feeling that we may see a federal seperation of powers case out of this.

Just like the Gitmo people coming to our shores, the immigration department may be processing their applications as we type.

We have a VERY serious seperation of powers problem developing. We are on the brink of a true Constitutional Crisis in my opinion. The government is way out of control and needs to be reined in.

As to the "gitmo crowd" coming to our shores. As far as I am concerned they are "Fair Game" and should be treated as such. NO licence needed and no limit. Layoutshooter
