A dumb reefer question

Well as I am a captive audience to anyone who walks by and asks what's wrong, one guy asked me what isn't my reefer unit vented and I told him no.

But that leads me to a rather uninformed question, what is the reason to vent a reefer and why would I want to do that with my straight truck?

Oh I did find a a Taco wagon...... well sort of.....a guy on a bike pedaling food.

For humidity control.
Tend to see them on the produce hauling trailers.
Or.....so cargo coming up from the border can breath.

some of your produce loads just need ventalation,so you open the vent doors on both ends, example, onions, watermelons. When I was hauling produce, you could put your unit into defrost mode and lower the weight of your onion load a great deal, you would be legal by 1st scale in Florida, when you loaded in Homested
