i was thinking like in times like these with holidays or having to be somewhere and one is directionally challenged.....one doesn't really need a full plate.....just enough to get where they want to go...see what I mean?

Yep, but if one is working it has become far more difficult to plan than it used to be.

We try to have one reset Fri/sat nite.
That person is available 0500 Sun.
The other Sat/Sun nite.
That person can drive Sat.

Sticking to this leaves us a driver available on Sat, another on Sun.

Rejecting a past restart is very helpful when it works.

We have yet to realize any benefit to rejecting a reset. Have tried it a couple of times, to no good use. I much preferred the "old days" We reset at the same time and ran out of hours at the same time. Always knew what was up. I very much need "simple".

Why not just make sure each driver does no more than 10 hours a shift @ 7 days a week then you always have 10 available !!!!

That is what we do. There have been "occasions" where it does not always work. Sleep time often get "messed up" when there are loading/unloading "issues" etc.

Rejecting last week MAY have let you reset earlier this week.
You may have reset by Sun 0500 instead of Mon 0500.
Then you may have called it a year and raced home to be with Dad tonight.
It may have worked, it may not have.

It's a difficult choice to make on our dispatch system.

It is due to all the concussions I had when I was a "Yout". Besides, The door has to be left open pretty wide for some of the YEAHOO's in here to have some fun! It has to be made "obvious" for them.

hey now....was I just insulted or just trying hard to be..?......LOL

But the video camera does. Maybe sign in sheets.

In a typical day to day situation they would never be questioned.
If a drunk hits you and dies and the investigation shows you were a little creative, then you're guilty !
Not right, just modern day law.

I always try to act like my safety guy is in the jump seat.

What drives me crazy is having time to get to the shipper, and delivery is 8 hours after arrival. Would be nice if they allowed 1/2 hour during your 10.....for line 4.

Study split sleeper berth rules.
8 in the bunk, then it's like 8 hours ago.
Deliver, get the other 2 hrs which do not need to be in bunk.
Only off-duty.

Yes, we can still do a split sleeper, it's just that the first period has to be 8 [or more] hours, which makes it mostly unworkable. I've done it a few times, but it's ridiculously complicated, and nowhere near as useful as it was when we could take 2 hours and stop the [&#$!$@] 14 hour clock.
Now they are proposing to do a 'study' on the split sleeper - um, isn't that something they should have done before changing it the first time?!
