I am quite certain I'm not the only one. Believe me, I'm paying now. What's the alternative? You tell me. The future inhabitants of this nation will be paying interest on today's debts no matter what avenue we take. It's just a matter of who's debt the interest is being paid on..The damage is done.We don't hardly make anything in this country anymore. There is no industrial base to invest in anymore. There is very little High tech stuff to invest in anymore. The investors turned to real estate because there was no where else to turn. Free trade has done us in. No tarriffs on imports, NAFTA or otherwise. Stick a fork in us. We're done. It's almost a clichet' that people say our grandchildren are going to pay the tab. Maybe you can explain how we might avoid it....

It could be but I'm pretty sure that's the expense of it and the $30-35k apiece is what it would take to repay it... not counting the ongoing expense of it. In other words, the morons who saddled us with this debt and indirectly the morons who voted them in (yes I just did it again I called Obama voters/supporters morons because that's precisely what they are in this case) have saddled us with a debt we can never recover from.

By the way, our national debt is now exceeding $30k for each and every person within our borders. This is an impossible number to pay back because over 50% of the people who this debt sits with don't pay taxes and receives some government assistance which means that the dwindling number of actual tax paying citizens is about 30% which means the debt is actually more like 50 or 60 thousand dollars per tax payer.

Here is what I think. The President and Congress should forfeit their pay to pay back the debt since they are the ones who decided to spend all that money, not the people.
If the people had the chance to vote for our country to go in debt like it is now, would we be in this situation right now? My point is, we the people give to much power to our government officials. They say what they do is for the people, is for the greater good, is it really? How does a group of people know whats best for billions of people? As you see in these forums alone, there are so many different opinions about all of it, again how do they determine what the people want and whats best for them? That is why we the people of the United States are suppose to vote. Shouldn't we be allowed to vote to what happens to our money? I believe so. We get to vote on local taxes and such. Why not something like this? It only makes sense. Anyways, have fun tearing this apart.

You're right. we all will. Do you know how this all got started? It was your (and mine) beloved Ronald Reagan. Reaganomics. Deregulation. Cut taxes at the top. Let the spoils trickle down. Cut import taxes. We'll get "stuff" cheaper. Let industry make our "stuff" over in the third world. It's cheaper there. Oh yeah, and trade will even it all out because for every dollar we spend on their "stuff", they'll spend a dollar on ours. It's gonna be great. Who needs manufacturing anyhow? It's dirty. When you don't have an industrial base to tax you end up with what we have today. That loud sucking sound.
Greg was right. It's about "stuff". When I said I would pay triple it wasn't because I want to. If we that still have income don't pay until some of the past 20 years is reversed, We are doomed.

No, the democrats use the media to help them, the republicans are too stupid to know what to say or how to fight. Both lie.
If you look at just one event, the Tea Parties and how the media covered them, you will see what I am getting at.
