I am new to here. Just wanting to say hi and ask a few questions. I have a been an on call Medical Courier/Expediter here in Charleston SC for the last 2 yrs. I have hauled just about everything. From Blood, Human tissue, Caskets, Mail, Aircraft parts, ETC. My question is, I only have a 2001 Ford E-150 Cargo van. I know it's not heavy duty. But I am thinking about signing up with a company that I can go out on the road with. I told them what vehicle I have and they said no problem. Do you think if I put some air shocks, and some heavy duty tires on it, that it will get me by for like 6 months?? Until I can get into another van, or just to see if I like that kind of work? I was told that I would moslty be hauling car parts. 1 to 2 pallets, 50 to 2,000 lbs. I was going to put some E-Track and some plywood in and go to work. But after some reading I did on here, I am hesitant. My van is in excellent shape, and runs like a top. I was just hoping to use it for awhile. Thank you for any info that would be helpfull!

A E 150 is a half ton van. 1500 -2000 lbs on a regular basis will ruin it in a hurry I would think.

If you put that type of weight on an e150 on a regular basis u will ruin it in a hurry. The e150 is not meant for that type of weight.

If you do decide to do it, changeing the shocks will help, maybe put a knober tire on as well.

Fords are great vans. I have an e350 that runs like a champ & can handle 4000 pounds of freight without blinking an eye.

Rainbow, what is the GVWR for your van? Could you even haul 2000# legally. Why not continue to do what you are doing until it's time for a new van. If you are still interested in expedite, get a long E-350.

At the very least get a 3/4 ton van your 1/2 ton would be dead in a year tops.
