    Whale Watching Adventure!

Laidover in Ontario, CA for the 4th of July we rented a car and headed to Newport Beach on a whale watching excursion! And, while we weren't fortunate enough to sight any whales, we did run across a large pod of common dolphins and some California sea lions basking in the sun piled on a bouy...

St. Augustine and awesome weekend layover!

This past weekend we got laidover in FL. So, we headed on down to St. Augustine, rented a car and took in a very special B&B. Later we would learn that we would have been better off just parking at the J and calling a cab. Once we got downtown we were able to take one of the many tours on the...

    State Parks?

Well, finally we got laidover with a decent load picking up on Monday. We'd been told that we could get into State Parks and that the people that told us had never been turned away. I finally convinced HoneyPie to take me fishing at a State Park. So, we researched it on the web and found...

Unbelievable! It really can happen . . .

Well, Highway, I could arrange to give you a bigger part. Is that what you want. Is that what you really want. Better be careful what you wish for . . .

Unbelievable! It really can happen . . .

I already give quite a lot to charity. I've volunteered a year of my life to worked with people with developmental disabilities, and my granddaughter has cerbrial paulsy. She already gets all of my money. I suspect that much of this jackpot will be her's as well.

Unbelievable! It really can happen . . .

Well, honey wants another Harley and we were thinking that since we have a WG truck there is a space for us to use to store our WG equipment. We could have a removable bike rack built and use the motorcycle to enjoy all those places that don't allow trucks on our layovers. That is one idea . . .

Unbelievable! It really can happen . . .

My honey and I love Vegas! Love it! We had a run to the Salt Lake area and delivered and what were our layover options? Los Angeles! So, of course, we went to Vegas Babee! We got a decent load offer for pickup Monday, which meant we had all day Fri, Sat, and Sun to play. We decided...

    Morel mushroom hunting

You know, Turtle, it has occurred to me that it is very good that you know so much about snakes, because don't snakes eat Turtles? For that fact, don't herons eat Turtles? If I were you, I'd be affraid to go home. I wouldn't leave the cab of my truck!

Cool places to take a straight truck or semi

In the last year we have . . . Gone to the French Quarter - Parked at Wal-Mart and took a bus down. Branson, MO - good parking all along the main drag. Las Vegas (several times) - Parking behind Circus Circus and you can walk the strip from there. Old Town Albuquerque - you can park...

    Laid Over Near Harrisburg, PA?

We originally set out to do a little fishing, and stumbled across old Ft. Hunter just off of the highway. You can park right on the side of the road and go tour the old restored town and mansion museum. We had a good time, but never did find a place to go fishing. :)

    Laid Over Near Akron?

So, you say you're laid over near Akron on a weekend. Well, try this . . . Go to Hale Farm in Bath, OH. The entrance fee is a bit pricey at $14.50/ea. but you can easily get there with a straight truck and there is plenty of parking. All the roads leading in are OK for trucks. We...

    Vegas BaBe

As luck would have it, we were passing through Las Vegas just in time for the tail end of the Great Western Truck Show at the Hilton Convention Center. So, we stopped (of course). It was good getting out of the truck and getting a little exercise, but the show itself was not really set up for...

    Why can't they wash lots

From a business point of view . . . and I do have some background in it . . . the truck stops will NEVER install portapottys. Why? Because regardless of how high fuel costs are, they aren't making a huge profit on it. Probably only pennies per gallon. What they are making their profits on is...

    Winston-Salem, NC

Whata Buncha Fun! :p This weekend they spun the wheel and after a very busy week, we landed in Greensboro, NC. So, as in the past, we did a little research on the web and ended up visiting Old Salem, NC. Both my husband and I like American history, so this was right up our alley. Old...

    Branson, MO

We had a weekend layover in Springfield, MO. After getting all the laundry, cleaning and shopping done we took off for Branson. Its always a little risky taking a truck to go sightseeing, you just never know. But, Branson was an easy in, easy out truck friendly town. We have a 6-Wheeler...

    Waiting at truck stops?

Yeah, I'm getting really sick of truck stops. Outside of the convenience of showers and laundry, there's really not much to do or see. A-Team said at one time that they are able to go places that TT's just can't go, like State Parks, etc. But, I just can't figure out how you would be able...

    In-Cab Fever!

Update! Today we left Baton Rouge to reposition ourselves for our Monday run in Mississippi. We took I-10 and found a "J" not too far from our pick-up in Gulf Port. We dug out the ole' map and found that there was a truck route that runs along the Gulf Shore a short distance away. So...

    In-Cab Fever!

I Found A Cure! First, we took a short trip down a 30 mi. bridge over the bayous. Drive alone was cool, just watching for herins fishing and seeing the sights. The we got off, right there in St. Bernard's Parrish! You can still see the damage that the hurricane left there. One house...
