Seasoned Expediter
So, you say you're laid over near Akron on a weekend. Well, try this . . .
Go to Hale Farm in Bath, OH. The entrance fee is a bit pricey at $14.50/ea. but you can easily get there with a straight truck and there is plenty of parking. All the roads leading in are OK for trucks.
We didn't get there until we had only 1 hour to spend screwing around - so we skipped the entrance fee and decided to save it for another day.
If you do, tell us what you thought of it. It looked like it would be pretty cool.
Also, we spent a day touring Salem, OH's Underground Railroad haunts and historical society. We thought it was pretty cool learning how station masters, conductors and engineers on the Underground Railroad risked it all for a principal belief that no man can be owned by another. We also learned of one slave man weighing 200+ lbs mailing himself from slavery in KY to freedom in PA. Pretty interesting and educational.
