DHL to end all US operations

I wouldn't worry too much about the trip packs. After all someone took care of them before DHL came along. What concerns me is the thousands of little yellow vans that are going to look for a place to go. These drivers are going to need to find someplace that will take them.

Need to assess the level of abuse we just endured!!

I agree with Leo on this one. If the owner would pay for this insurance it would take an average of 10% of the drivers pay right back out of the owners pocket. That brings the owners pay to 30% or less.

    I got a call

If the shipper, don't have a clue, and don't have the proper plaquards, then I would wonder if they even know what they are shipping. With the possible fines up to $25,000.00 plus jail time, I think I would pass on their load. Maybe the dollar amount and jail time is only for air...

    Cigarette Butts?!?!

I don't know about tha owner making all that much money. I have been there and know a little bit about a 60/40 split. The owner can make money only if the driver works. If the driver just uses the van to make enough to get by on, then the owner is going to loose his caboose.

    being sick on the road

The first thing a person should do is let someone know that they are sick, and where they are. If nobody knows to check on you then you could die in that truck. Well you could anyway, but if, say you was supposed to check in every day and you didn't, then your friend could notify the local...

    Dealer can't read?

Sounds like a royal pain, but with somewhat of a happy ending. Sure glad the service contract worked for someone at least once. Anytime something was covered under warranty for me, there was something else that needed to be done that really put some profit in the dealers pocket. I won't...

    I was naughty today

I was held up coming back from British Columbia once because the truck in front of was loaded with Bananas. Customs came out with some kind of hand held unit and held it against the side of the truck for a couple minutes and then let the driver go. Now as to why bananas were being shipped...

    Panther drivers

I was talking about driver turnover. If company A has a turnover rate of 50% per year and company B has a turnover rate of 40%, then company B would be the one that I would want to go with. The entire industry has a high turnover rate so a person can't say Panther has a rate of such and such...

    Panther drivers

I have no facts to back up what I said. I was only going by what I hear on the road from other drivers. If Jim has the facts, then I accept what he says as true. Maybe if someone had some facts about what the turn over rate is from each company, that would be a better yardstick

    Panther drivers

Let me start out by saying that I am not with Panther. Now saying that I ask you this. Who complains the most? Who has the most active orientation every week? If everything the recruiters say is true, then why do they need to replace so many drivers? I know I didn't answer your question...

    Need Advice Guys!!!

I got into a verbal argument with a woman in the office. She thought I was making too much money to complain about a few dollars (About $75.00) a week worth of commission corrections. I was making about 4 times as much as she was, but I was working about 80 hrs per week and using my van to...

    Need Advice Guys!!!

Are you just trying to get away from the Northern winters and wanting to move to California or what? If you wanted to run local there are several good local companies in the northern Ohio area. I ran for Priority Dispatch several years ago, until they fired me and ordered me off the property...

    Need Advice Guys!!!

Dug a little deeper and took a look at the MCS-150 they filed on 11-11-07. According to their report they have 2 trucks and 2 drivers and ran a total of 390,000 miles for the year. That works out to an average of over 500 miles per driver 7 days a week 365 days. Either a mistake was made...

    Need Advice Guys!!!

Just because they are a corporation don't mean they are a huge company. Maybe they are a mom and pop company like the vast majority of us. Their home office just might be in their home and they don't want the drivers in their house. When I first started with Roberts Express, I had my little...

    Expediting in Asia

These things were all over Nam. We called them lambreta's. They were used to haul everything from about 15 people to small water buffalos. Kinda like oversized mopeds with a wide backend.

    If you use PrePass

I can sometimes hear the sound it makes but the volumn is so low that if the radio is on or the wend is blowing I cannot hear it. As far as replacing the batteries, mine don't have replacable batteries. Also mine don't have a test button.

    If you use PrePass

Does anyone but me have a problem seeing the green or red lights on the pre pass? My windshield angles in such a way that the prepass is not close to vertical. Also it seems that I am amost always running into the sun when I need to see the light. I have put a cardboard frame around the...
