Re: Part 3 of our Trucking SagaPart 1 USXpress where Bob got out from under the truc Welcome to Landstar! We left FDCC ourselves back in Sept after 4 years. We saw changes in the system for E units that we didn't like. Landstar allows you to have more control over the frequency of loads and...

companies who will let a team member drive with a learner's permit???

You did not specify what size vehicle. For Fedex E unit (tractor trailer) you MUST be licensed and have 6 months experience. They changed that rule well over a year ago. I am unaware of their rules on straight trucks and vans.

Minimum wage may go up to $10.10 in some state.

Apparently FedEx does not carry enough liability or cargo or something because we can no longer get back haul loads through CH Robinson. So basically there are no back haul options for us anymore.

    log question

Oops I left out an important sentence... Once you have exhausted your 11 hours of drive time or the 14 hour window you can continue to unload as long or late as you want (remaining in the on-duty status) But you may not perform on-duty driving until you have satisfied the 10 hour restart. The...

The correct answer is you can unload as long/late as you want... You just cannot drive again until you have had the 10 continuous hours off duty/sleeper birth.

California Experience So Far in 2014?

My research shows no extensions available now for any reason. Last extension expired 12/31 and was called the "good faith" extension. Currently they have a low- milage option you can sign up for and that is running less than 1000 miles in CA for the year. The only mention of 5000 miles on their...

Help!!! I admit to dropping the ball on this one- and I hope that I am just uninformed...But.... I assumed that since there are "fees" and "fuel discounts" that don't show up on the fedex settlement nor on the fuel receipts that I would be able to access some sort of a monthly report or...

Driving for Urban Express in NYC

I am worried about you being a business owner at all! Why would you work for anyone without knowing upfront exactly how you will be paid? Is it per drop, milage based or time based? And reimbursement of tolls and parking and fuel costs... All of this should have been agreed to and in writing...

    Where do you park?

I got a $100 fine... We drop the trailer at FedEx Freight and bring the tractor home. I made nice with the county code enforcer and pointed out some rv's and other commercial vehicles in our neighborhood. Haven't been bothered since when the truck is home.

Think you know your hazmat? Take the test..

Not all states participate in the federal govt fingerprinting program "haz prints". FL is one of those states. So FL can not run prints for a non resident nor can a FL resident have their prints captured in another state. However if the state you reside in and the state you are wanting to get...
