    Some honest questions about FSC

Sounds like something sitting behind the wheel in his van is ready to be replaced as well.

    J.D. Clark Logistics

There are already a couple threads (at least) about them on here already. I will tell you this: John Clark may very well be the hardest working guy in this business. Great company.

    Some honest questions about FSC

It is also driven by supply and demand. You may see a van's fsc foundering where straights and tractors have no problem. I agree with Leo and others. The total rate is what matters. However, I understand that a driver for an owner who is on a percentage, might respond differently, according...

    Who should pay?

I would say it's the driver's responsibility to pick up the vehicle, as well as drop it back when done. However, it basically comes down to how either indispensable or expendable the driver is, as well as how bad the driver wants a job.

CDL required for <10K GVW Van?

I stand corrected on this. Back when I still drove a non-CDL straight truck, we were still a Florida inTRA-state carrier, so I was never required to have one. At least not until I got my CDL.

    All State Express

It's amazing how many "don't wannas" keep someone from having real success. People who don't wanna: -Go to NYC -Hand Load -Debris removal -blanket wrap -gather up some parts and put it in a box yourself -Go to the northeast -Go to the northwest -Go to the southwest -Go to the southeast -Go...

Tony, You might want to read some of the current threads concerning cargo vans. If your current game plan of going home after sitting a couple of days doesn't seem to be working, you might try a different game plan once you're on the road, especially if it's tough to get out in the first place.

CDL required for <10K GVW Van?

You are absolutely correct. The issue is not with one ton trucks or even the trailer. When your combination weight hits 26001, you need a CDL-A, cuz it bends in the middle. A CDL requires a med card.

CDL required for <10K GVW Van?

DOT inspectors are only looking for a medical as it relates to a CDL. A 1 ton pickup w/ a trailer requires a medical card only because you must have a Class A to drive anything with either 26001+ GVW or GCW. If your combination weight is is 26000 or below, no special license or card is...

    Cube Van Question

Cubes have at least 35 gallon. The one I still own has a 55 gal tank. Mine gets between 9.5 and 11. It just depends how you run. It also depends what kind of rate you're getting. They don't carry any more weight than a van, but they can carry volume. We don't move much automotive stuff, so...

    Adding axles?????????????

Absolutely. I'm sure there are people on here who have done it. The big thing to watch is the placement of the existing axle and the overall wheelbase. That will tell you if an extra axle will work well.

CDL required for <10K GVW Van?

The medical card goes hand-in-hand with the CDL and the driver bearing it, not the vehicle he is driving. Yes, a CDL WITH hazmat endorsement is required to haul HM. No special license is needed for any vehicle 26000 GVW or below, unless hauling HM. However, carrier contract requirements may...

    Tandem Axles or NOT?????????

If you're going to go with a class 8 truck, I wouldn't even bother with it if it didn't at least have the "optional" third axle. You'll be lucky to haul more than 8500 if you don't. That third axle is also nice when you're running in the snow, or even heavy rain. More stability. Just drop it.

would this be a good van?

Even without the ready made sliding door, it could be done. In a cutaway cube, the back wall of the cab IS the front wall of the box. Even if it had a door, I would open it up as much as possible. You would want to make sure to leave yourself 12' and maybe an inch or two, just to be on the...
