    company question

I am showing an N & M Transportation with a Cleveland address. Close enough? They are an Alliance partner and are showing a fleet of 10 cargo vans. Never dealt with them.

    where are the loads

I'm trying to figure out what expedited carrier has 600 extra loads to broker in a day. Sounds like truckstop banter to me.

    where are the loads

There are many reasons that a carrier brokers a load when they have trucks sitting. Many times a load is booked because the carrier can cover the pickup within an hour. If you're 90 miles out from the pick, your carrier will broker it, rather than lose the customer. The good news is, there is...

    how many load1 is moving

I have one sprinter on the road that has logged about 2250 loaded since Monday. Three loads so far. All sprinter loads. Van freight has been slower though.

    Anyone see this yet?

This is old news, and so far has not gotten anywhere with FMCSA. Ralph Nader's group was pushing for that a year or so ago. I guess he didn't factor in that if each driver works one hour less, it will mean that we will need more trucks on the road to make up for it. Remember, big trucks are...

Hey John, I'm going out of town in the afternoon, but if you want to call me in the morning before everything gets busy, I can help you with the signature thing.

    Credit where credits due

OK. Since all the LOOOOVE is gettin' thrown around here, I would like to publicly thank BOTH John Elliott AND John Clark for their valuable help and insight into this business: Mr. Elliott, for helping me know who's who in the expediter zoo (and who's not), and to Mr. Clark, for opening some...

    load boards web site

There will always be trucks in whatever city you are in. However, your carrier should hopefully provide you with info as to how many of THEIR trucks are in the area. They may also be able to provide you with info as to whether the area is overloaded with similar vehicles.

    Do you carry extra keys?

I like to carry and extra set so that I can continue to "warm" the global climate while I stop to take care of business.

    What is owed you?

Oh, I complete agree with you that the driver needs to stay. However, if the driver cannot gain access to the parking lot, then I would be ok with him waiting at a safe venue within spitting distance. Unfortunately, this was NOT was the driver did.
  12. Jefferson3000

    What is owed you?

Sounds pretty simple to me. The driver shows up and finds that he cannot be immediately load, eg. snow covered parking lot, ice on the ramp so the fork driver can't come out and van can't back up. Driver is told to hang on, while the customer is contacted about this. Driver decides to wait...

    What is owed you?

The driver would have done better to wait it out, and nogotiate the detention to stay. If this was a third party bill or even collect, then there is nothing that the shipper can verify to the driver. He abandoned the load, in violation of his contract. I would abandon him. BTW, I understand...

    Landshark

You would think so, huh? But as Greg said, there are different types of factoring, recourse and non-recourse. Companies that practice non-recourse will not come back on the carrier for a load factored, but are generally very restrictive as to whom they will factor. In the grand scheme of...

    Favorite runs of the year?

One of the most memorable of the year was the eight hours I spent sharing pizza with federal agents while they cleaned out some Pakistani guy's house, confiscating knock-off handbags and watches. When they finally finished sorting, they then boxed it and loaded the evidence on my truck to be...

    Vans and what are they?

It's a sort of class warfare, but it's really a farce.

    Vans and what are they?

They're also good for a free ride to dinner when your "hours" are up.:D

    Landshark

Very true. Have you ever seen Midwest Expediting (sister to All-Types) on the road? Their logo has an uncanny resemblance to Tri-State's.

    Landshark

The difference is simple. One is a star, and the other is a shark.:D Landshark is also a beer, a Transformer, and a nickname for the Porshe 928.
