can a scale officer search my truck

RE: one more question on my mind It would'nt be a violation until the resting driver started driving without the proper amount of continuous off-duty time. Having to restart the rest period would certainly mess things up. It would be easier to deal with if 5&5 were still the rule.

It's not how much you make, etc, etc.

All the bird poop would look like fancy graphics at a glance. Someone let me know when they find a tree with showers, rest rooms, and a restaurant.

    Can You Dance?

I have accepted my station in life as a common white man that can't dance. I'll take a shot at the chicken dance with the proper amount of imbibment(is that a word?), but that's about it.

    Myths. Lies, and Dowright Stupidity

What will the main stream media do if they can't yell that the sky is falling anymore? An evening of must see TV would be Stossel and the folks from Dateline that are baiting the pedophiles. Throw in half an hour of stupid criminal clips and that would always be on my DVR when I get home.

Taxes and politics or how to make a million

It should please the class-envious types among us. The wealthy will still want that new Lamborghni, and if I have an exceptional year, I may be able to get that used Neon I've had my eye on.

question about my co driver taking medications

Greg, look at your license again. Right under the picture of The Bridge it says Commercial Driver License. I'm currently in the market for a new doctor as mine moved back to New Zealand. He's a great guy and I was really disappointed. One of the first questions is usually "what do you do for a...

Working for more than one company

When I posted yesterday I completely forgot we have a forum member working for two companies, DannyD. He's doing it with one company being primary and the other secondary. He was having issues with the secondary company and may not be doing it anymore.

    Truely a long weekend

Maybe the positive is that you're getting all your bad luck out of the way, for a while, in one fell swoop. Good luck with everything, and from what I've heard, make sure you have a bullet to bite on when you pass the stones.

Working for more than one company

Back in '99 or '00 there was a guy doing this. He had 2 qualcoms on his van and was leased to both companies. This ended for him when they got tired of him taking a load and then changing his mind when company B came up with a better one. He also said he would ocassionally double up. That would...

    Only in California...

Back to global warming for a moment... There was an interesting article in the Life section of Thursday's McPaper. It seems that 55 million years ago, the Arctic was sub-tropical, complete with palm trees and the ancestors of alligators. Smokestacks and tailpipes? I don't think, and PLEASE...

    LDB's Ride!

Sweet truck Leo! Dieselphreak, wish I could have taken a better look at your ride the other day but we were behind on the load I had when I picked it up! You seemed surprised to have a stranger in a rest area ask if you were the Phreak.

I know exactly how you feel LDB. Michael Moore and brilliant used in the same sentence. That piece of comedy alone made it worthwhile to start this thread. Teachers need to stick to readin, 'ritin, and 'rithmatic, the basic 3 r's, and let kids form their own opinions on controvertial issues...

    Importance of Freight

The freight is what it's all about. Anyone that signs up to do this needs to have support that they can depend on to handle things. GM isn't going to shut down just because we have problems. If a transfer of the freight isn't possible, we just have to finish the job and go from there. I know...

    Am I hearing slow?

First, thanks for noticeing how humble I am. Just one of the things that makes me so freakin' awesome. The C trucks, being dock level, probably are doing a bit better than vans. It just seems to be the vans, and particularly those of us that depend on Big 3, that are having a tough time. As far...

    income

To say it's as simple as 65% is better than 60% may not be the case. You may well do better with 60% at a company that charges a higher rate and FSC. It's just not that cut and dry.

    Am I hearing slow?

If you're coming back in a van I'd say hold off right now. D's are a bit better in some cases, but a lot of them are saying it's slow too. It's definately not what it should be this time of year.
