    Wanting to go West

If you're running solo you won't get dispatched more than 500 miles at a time . It'll take a few loads to work your way west .

    Pickup Based B Unit

DOT doesn't accept crew cab back seats as sleepers . I've heard if the door panels are removed from the back doors and windows fastened closed and window gear removed the back seat is then wide enough. But crew cab owners are told to never log sleeper time in the back seat.

    Pickup Based B Unit

I think it would make more sense to have a one ton chassis with a regular 10 ft. box . You'd have wider doors and no wheel wells to deal with .

    O/O questions.

To check for hotshot loads go to www.freight-terminal.com . It's a free board . Click the new guestbook for latest loads . Join the OOIDA (ooida.com ) if you haven't already . They can answer all your questions about authority but it takes about 4 weeks to get full approval from the DOT ...

    I have found heaven

I know couples that deliver new RV's . The husband will tow a railer and the wife will drive a motorhome going to the same dealer or one enroute . Yeah , they have to deadhead for the next load but they got transport pay for 2 vehicles . I guess a couple could have a 4 cyl. vehicle to tow and...

    Need honest answer please

Pay $4,000 for training , then work 2 or 3 weeks below minimum wage at $300 a week then only get $.30 a mile ? There are a lot better opportunities than that .

    Duramax in cargo van

I also found during a web search that Ford bought back more than a few trucks powered by the 6.0 Powerstroke , some due to lemon laws . These trucks are showing up on lots labeled as Ford repurchased vehicles.

    Duramax in cargo van

Mrtuck.com has an article on tests on this vehicle . More power than Ford and better fuel economy ( 20.2 mpg during testing ) Noise reduction improvements have also been made .

    Need honest answer please

You didn't say where you lived . I used to work for MPW industrial services out of Hebron , OH . They have branches in GA , KY , IN and other states . They are always begging for class B or A CDL drivers driving vacuum and waterblast trucks . It's tough work because you have to set up 6" or 8"...

    Independent Contractors or Employees

We'd have to know the details of your contract to give an accurate answer . I'd say if the contractor picked his own loads and just gave you a percentage you'd be o.k. . If you acted as dispatch picking the loads you could have problems .

    Independent Contractors or Employees

I'm no accountant but I'd suggest forming a partnership . According to the guide he'd be self employed . Since an independant contractor should no be required to submit written reports , how are daily logs viewed in this area ?

    Save Money On Fuel

This has also been mentioned before but if you fuel at a Speedway , buy gift certificates . They work at the pay at the pump and give you a $2 per $50 discount .

Do not stop here until Christmas

Don't stop at exit 2 either I was at the Flying J at exit 2 on I-75 in GA Thursday . Normally I use my business Visa at the RV pumps but they were lined up in the street so I went around to te truck pumps . After I put my card in I noticed they charged 4 cents more than the RV price . When I...

    I just checked out Hino

The " local " dealer called me . He's almost 150 miles away . He said his customers average around 11 mpg . I'd like to be able to get a little better than that for that size truck with that horsepower .

    Common sense and common courtesy

The one thing I hate about Flyin J's is their automated shower ready annoncements n a PA that can be heard on the whole parking lot . The wait for a shower isn't that long . They should give drivers that go back to their truck a pager .

    I just checked out Hino

They are not the best OTR truck but the thing that got my attention is their warranties are 2 and 3 year (or more ) with unlimited mileage . I wish they had more power for my needs though .

    Hours

What you can run is what your safety officer will allow . I once got written up by my safety department for averaging 67 m.p.h. where there was a 70 m.p.h. speed limit and I made one stop for fuel . I was told I can't average over 65 m.p.h. . I asked what I could average where the speed limit...

    FJ Amarillo Tx

I've found all Flying J's to be understaffed . It's annoying to pay at the pump at the RV pumps , thenhave to go in for a receipt . There are usually at leat 4 or 5 people in line at each register and the cashier keeps leaving the register to get info from people at the pumps . At least I no...
