I crossed the border into the U.S. at Port Huron 3 a.m. Saturday morning . I jumped behind a Panther cargo van and empty tanker figuring that line would go quickest . Wrong ! Panther pulled to the booth and I waited and waited then here come the blue lights and Panther gets escorted to secondary...

    Starting a Hotshot Service

Register here . http://hotshothauling.com/ . A lot of good , reliable info . A medium duty truck with at least a 40' flatbed is highly recommended . DOT watches 1 tons closely . The GCVWR for a 1 ton is around 23,000 . A truck will usually weigh around 8,000 with tools , fuel driver , etc. ...

Canada More comprehensive pretrips required in Canada aft

Trying to find a link to this was frustrating but Canadian truckstops have the required pretrip form . Supposedly there will be a grace period to allow carriers to use up their supply of old forms but the new forms are a cheap way to conform and make them happy . Found an article...

    legal sleeper

    >What did any of this have to do with the orginal post? Whats >a hOtshot? The original post was about legal sleepers . Greg brought up the fact most hotshotters don't have them . At one time expedited freight was called hotshot . Now hotshot refers to 1 ton or medium duty trucks , usually...

    legal sleeper

After the hurricanes FEMA showed total ignorance . They shipped thousands more travel trailers than there were facilities (water , sewer ) for . Thousands of these trailers are still sitting in fields , never used . On top of that DOT made all the pickups hauling these things exempt from FMSCA...

    legal sleeper

Logging off duty does not require a motel stay . A driver can spend his full 10 hours off duty in a casino and legally get back in the truck and drive . Believe me , the majority of hotshotters resent the scofflaws as much as you do . Southern states like Tn , AL , TX and AR watch duallies...

    >So as per the regs, the hot shot idiot who passed me this >morning flying down the freeway at 80 plus with 5 cars on >his trailer needs a class A? I'd say a 5 car load definately requires a Class A . Some 3 car haulers try to run under 26,000 but they're pushing it .

Looking for a van to drive

If you have big truck experience you'd be much better off in a C or D unit . It has often been posted here there is not sufficient revenue from a van to support a driver and give the owner enough to meet expenses .
