    Cargo van logging question..................

All that being said I question the wisdom is carrying an amount of hazmat requiring placarding in a cargo van . There certainly is a lot of risk there . A cargo van is lower and far less sturdy than a C or D unit if somebody runs into you .

    Cargo van logging question..................

Just one other example . I was a supervisor for an industrial cleaning company . I would drive a 10 wheel vacuum truck to a job that lasted over a week or more . I worked 12 hour days on site . All the hours working had to be logged on duty . At the end of the job , unless another driver was...

    TV Mounting?!

You'll have to be creative . I'd use u-bolts to mount it on a piece of pipe about the diameter of a load lock then find a way to anchor the pipe . Or maybe http://shopping.msn.com/reviews/shp/?itemId=21702069 .

Part 395.2 Definitions: On duty time shall include (8) performing any other work in the capacity , employ , or service of a motor carrier; and (9) Performing any compensated work for a person who is not a motor carrier . Like I said earlier , you are not required to fill out a log book...

Last "stock"part going away . Chevy has new engine

http://www.jayski.com/pages/enginerules.htm . They might as well rename it NACAR . The last , best part of stock car racing is soon to be history . Being a winner isn't good enough . Getting rid of the Chevy small block and replacing it with an engine strictly designed for racing - you won't see...

    Looking into Hot Shoting

While it is "easier" to run for a company , it is far less profitable . Carriers expect you to deadhead too much to move loads from their customer base . The link I gave in the earlier post has nearly every member working under their own authority , many of them in Texas .

    Intermodal Trucking?

Triple Crown has an interesting setup . Their trailer have connections on each end of the trailer that allows a rail dolly to connect the front of one trailer to the rear of the one in front of it . They're the only intermodal hauler I'd consider hauling for except maybe CSX but CSX uses a lot...

Schneider National using AARP to recruit drivers

I read an article about Schneider becoming a partner with AARP to recruit older drivers . I e-mailed AARP and blasted them for this move and gave them background on Schneider . I would hope at least 1 expediting carrier would check into AARP's jobs program and show people in their 50's and 60's...

From time to time I've seen a statement from FHWA saying an unladen commercial vehicle can be driven a reasonable distance off duty for food or lodging . I've seen that posted a couple of times but can never have it come up in Google.
