    Re:Finding Loads/Back Hauls

Re: Finding Loads/Back Hauls I have found any city that has a large manufacturing base is going to be a hot area for expedite, as sometimes the manufacturer needs freight moved in a JIT environment. Also cities that have a Company distribution center as sometimes a customer order is short and...

    How to: git 'er done!

I'm sure if that van was traveling in any state. The State Police would have it pulled over in a heartbeat!

My guess something candy related since Hershey Chocolate dominates the city. Was out there last summer for vacation. If you get a chance during a layover, go to Hershey's Chocolate world at their visitor's center.

    Weird Loads

Doggy, I was bored at work last night trying to stay awake, I found it amusing to see who still chats on here from 5 yrs ago, but more so, I found it interesting to see what kind of stuff people have hauled in their expedite experiences. Granted I opened up a can of worms so to speak regarding...

    Getting Shafted In Maumee,Ohio

I'm not a newbie, and I knew full well when it was posted and how long ago.....however don't you think something like this happens now??????? My point is no matter when it happened, a driver should get paid for delivering his freight!

    Weird Loads

Some weird loads I've encountered in my expediting experiences; 1. 800lbs of frozen fried chicken to a KFC restaurant for grand opening in Pittsburgh from Atlanta. 2. 1000lbs of chocolate candy from Bolingbrook, IL to Medford WI. The vending service company needed it bad! 3. Another...

    Getting Shafted In Maumee,Ohio

Bottom line is the driver should still get paid if he completed the trip regardless of the outcome or at least be compensated for half of the load amount. If the customer got screwed its the carrier who should eat the bill and not carry it over to the driver. I had a similar situation when...

Who do you drive for and why?

I run for three different local carriers out of Chicago, and a guy out of Michigan. I like it because if one doesn't have a load for me the others usually do! I'm not forced dispatch and I choose what I take and am never penalized for refusing a trip. All four work around my schedule with my...

USDOT # confussion/ what type of plate

Why don't you put signs on your van about your sign installing business, that way DOT will leave you alone, as its your company business vehicle and that way your not giving any indication your hauling freight on the side! if its a passenger van, I'd cover your side windows.
