    Regular CV freight vs. Sprinter

It sounds to me if I were gonna get a new truck, instead of the Sprinter and it's expensive maintenance costs. Go with a cube truck (under 10,000lbs so you don't have to log), or get an aerocell CW or its next bigger size on a chevy or ford cutaway.

    Driving for Multiple Carriers

I honestly don't think hooking up with more than one carrier makes any difference whether you run with a under 10,000lbs cube truck or a cargo van. At that point its the capacity you're able to carry.

    Driving for Multiple Carriers

I work with 3 different carriers. Carrier A gets me an outbound load, (they're not experienced on backhauls as they're a local company). So when I load up and hit the road, I call carriers B, and C to let them know where I'm headed and if possible find me a trip back home. Whoever loads me...

thinking of buying a couple of sprinters, what do yall think.

I know from reading earlier posts that the early Sprinters had alot of issues mechanical wise and as the years have gone by they have improved, but also from reading here very costly to maintain.

    Anyone Drive for T&K?

He used to have a real good run from Rock Falls, IL/Sterling, IL area to Bowling Green, KY. always picked up around 5pm and delivered straight through. First time I ran it, he had me run home by way of Indy, and had me calling to see if he had any back haul for me along the way. Finally after...

    Anyone Drive for T&K?

They are very small operation trying to play like the big boys. Have no sales force out trying to get corporate accounts, gets all their business off load boards which they belong to! Perhaps now since their early days when I worked for them they've improved, but I doubt it. Sounds like they...

    Anyone Drive for T&K?

He's a small company, I drove his company cargo van back in late 2005, early 2006. I think I would have been happier using my own cargo van with him rather than use his cargo van.

    Non-Expediting Companies

Go to your nearest truck stop and pick up a few of those magazines that specialize in truck driver recruiting and make some calls to the different carriers who are looking for drivers!

Cool van if it wasn't so old

I'm sure there are some small expedite companies or even air freight forwarders or small time logisitics companies that would put that van on as long as it were in good mechanical condition and passed a DOT inspection. *would make a good back up van when one's primary unit is out of service.

What Made you Get into Expediting?

JuJu, Thank you for such kind words. I do have some really great memories of my expedite experiences. From my early days in Illinois, to my days in suburban Atlanta, and back again here in Illinois. Expedite is a tight knit fratornity, much like it is for me with my days in law enforcement...

What Made you Get into Expediting?

Moot, I believe that would have been ConWay Now! I remember hearing how when they started they went to some of the retired giys to help get the company off the ground and provided them with company vehicles. My Dad being in the distribution business for a large Construction Machinery...

A Plus Expedited(more like Special Ed Expedited)

Sounds like a company to stay away from! But then again, I'm sure this company sounds like a small "mom and pop" start up with any lack of experience in expediting. And I'm sure there are alot of those type of companies out there now!

    Check engine light off

Ran a 1989 Ford C/V and the check engine was constantly on. Took it to several repair shops even the Ford Dealer couldn't diagnose the problem she ran fine 269,000 miles before I traded it in for a 1998 Ford C/V which I'm still running to this day!

What Made you Get into Expediting?

I remember my first experience in expediting was a neighbor of ours in Wheaton, IL where we lived at the time. My Dad was parts manager/DC manager of Komatsu's Midwest warehouse in Carol Stream, IL. Our neighbor Doran Baker who was an insurance saleman got rid of his agency and bought a Ford...

    Re:CV rates and logging

Re: CV rates and logging Purgoose, I am one of the small guys that do business with more than one carrier. The partner carriers I am associated with are not any one of the big major expeditied carriers out there. They are the small mom and pop companies or freight forwarders near the...

    Signs on Trucks

This question is more for the C/V, Sprinter, Cube Van Operator. I'm sure most expediting companies, make you have signs on your vehicle. But if you had the option could you or would have signs on your vehicle if it was an option. Provided your carrier still provided you with the proper ICC...
