Straight Truck Pay - % or mileage

We do both and it really depends on the overall rate. Some pay a good percentage yet don't pay for deadhead or relocation costs. Some mileage companies pay those and while the overall rate may be less, they are actually making more overall if those costs are included. Have to look at the whole...

    Obama's highest gas prices ever.

It isn't just fuel. As we keep spending (16T so far) we are putting the dollar in jeopardy. As it loses value, the poor will be hurt the most because their dollar buys less. One of these days, the poor are going to figure it out. Probably when they buy a gallon of milk and it is 8 bucks.

Not sure but it appears we have established that Andy Clarke will NOT be the CEO of E-1.

CEO out at panther! What's going on now?

That is correct with regards to E-1. There was a article recently on it. Andy Clarke is going back to banking as Dave mentioned. Or.................that is what they told the fleet. Time will tell if by chance it is something else.

Unions: People not lining up to join unions?

I wouldn't throw Walmart under the bus too quickly. Bill Lawson: Walmart Veterans Job Initiative Sets a Great Example for All Employers Keeping a open mind, they get a tax credit and likely all positions aren't full-time but at least they did or are something. I can't imagine these being...

Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

I think Turtle has it right. True "forced" dispatch is when you refuse to haul something and you are fired. With expediting, it is based on the frequency over a period of time rather than a single event. One is not the same as the other.

    Football leadership and American Businesses

Business has to follow a different set of rules compared to sports. Many times they have to meet hiring quotas and follow legal guidelines which changes hiring practices. It isn't necessarily hiring the best, it is hiring appropriately to keep from getting sued or getting fined.

Death of the Twinkie....greedy Wall Street to blame!

Poor management accelerated some of their problems but unsustainable wages and pensions drove them into the ground. Competent management could have only done so much with a out of control balance sheet. The steel industry was a combination of union and global problems. Most in the steel...

Death of the Twinkie....greedy Wall Street to blame!

Article is alittle slanted. Poor management was certainly a factor, but compaing them to competitors, they were way over paying their workers for positions similar at other bakeries. Put those two together and you have a sinking ship.

Wonder how many trucks were lost to "Carb" rules Jan 1st?

Just another byproduct of government regulations that aren't thought out. Seen this today in the fishing industry. Regulations again that have no regard for business or workers. As far as trucking regulations "we are not alone". New England fishermen say new regulations may lead to collapse...

    Feinstein gun ban exempts...

I think it is a reality of the democratic/liberal mind. We are 16T in debt now and even the democrats, (only some) realize that when they can no longer borrow, they want to limit those guns from people who their benefits will be cut. Whether they are "entitled" or not won't really matter if the...

Our experience with C&M Transport so far...

My advice would be to utilize EO and research the companies that appeal to you. That includes the good and the bad. Type a company in the search and start reading. Going back six months is sufficient so you are looking at current information. Then ask your questions about that specific carrier...

    Question

There is a list of components that determine ones status. Some are state specific and some are IRS guidelines. Direct from the IRS as one determining factor, but not inclusive just by itself. This is likely what Bruno is refering. " Significant investment: Investment in facilities used by...
