FAA to "check" overweight pilots for restful sleep..

Exactly! Why try and legislate guaranteed safety? If we want to be totally safe why not make the physical requirements for truck driver even more stringent? 20/20 vision without corrective lenses. A driver could break a lens or lose a contact while driving. Height between 5'10" and...

    My children come home crying

Not only did I have to memorize and recite the Lord's Prayer in grade school, I had to memorize and recite the Apostle's Creed, forward and backward. In Latin! Dominoes Nabisco, cheese and crackers got all muddy. Threw a tantrum, ergo socked a mental. Rectum spirit, tu tu O. etc. etc. etc...

    Which Size Gas Engine?(Cargo Van)

Scott, having owned and driven both the 4.8 and the 6.0, if you were to buy a new 3500 van what engine would you choose? Any performance difference between the two? I guess a meaningful comparison would be worthless since the 6.0 was in the Baby Beast.

Where Can I Buy A Johnson Bar ?

A 1000 pounds is probably the max. I was young, strong and foolish back then. Now I'm old and foolish. I don't think using a 2 wheeler to drag pallets will save on floor wear and tear though. I was thinking more for a truck instead of a J bar. J bars are awkward to store and have a...

Serious bad weather in the midwest

It was nice to meet you Bill. Good luck battling the winds in North Dakota. Bring me back some Ghermezian Brother bobbleheads from Edmonton, being that OVM didn't bring me any from his recent trip.

Where Can I Buy A Johnson Bar ?

For how often you use a Johnson Bar might not a steel frame, solid rubber wheel hand truck be more versatile and practical? When I did city P & D my trusty 2 wheeler was used as a J Bar for hooking and pulling pallets and crates to the rear of the trailer. It also came in handy for prying up...

    Which Size Gas Engine?(Cargo Van)

I too have a Chevy with the 6.0, 4 speed with 712,000 miles. New to date 16.65 mpg. I think I could squeeze another ½ to 1 mile per gallon with a 6 speed.

Serious bad weather in the midwest

I woke up this morning in Chicago to 70º temperature, rain and wind. Kinda weird temperature wise for the middle of November. I missed the storms but did run into E.O. member billg27.

    Birthday! Happy Birthday Terry O

A bunch of these on our resident pharologist's birthday cake would have been appropriate and dangerous.

Why not get your eyesight tested first, just to be sure? If you can't pass, maybe a corrective lens would help. Your T-300 probably has air brakes and that would require a CDL. Also, many carriers require a CDL regardless of GVWR.

Most of the two story TA's were Union 76's.

    Turnpike Turnarounds - Possible???

Thanks Turtle! I went from US 75 to a Plano exit, about 10 miles. I'm still hoping Panther gets the bill.

    Did I handle this right?

Not necessarily. If they want it swapped to meet the delivery time, it will get swapped. Unless they screw it up and want you to take a 5 hour break and then swap it. The two are mutually exclusive and should be covered in dispatch school. If you take a 5 hour break, there is no need to...

    Turnpike Turnarounds - Possible???

Has anyone run the Sam Rayburn Tollway without a NTTA transponder. I did a few weeks ago and have yet to get a bill. Maybe they sent it to Panther.

How Expediting has changed from 20 years ago.

Some truck stops had rooms. Many Union 76 truck stops had small rooms with a black and white TV and a twin bed. A common bathroom with showers was down the hall. All of this for under $10 a night.
