Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

I saw this sign on the back of a Swift trailer. It is just an innocuous statement. It is not a claim by Swift that they have award winning drivers or even safe and courteous drivers. It's a great public relations statement because it implicitly suggests to the reader that Swift does indeed...

Per Diem Tax Deductions & Taxes............................................. .........

Re: Per Diem Tax Deductions & Taxes............................................. .... It is the IRS's ball, game and field. If they say no then it doesn't matter what any of us tell you. Did you have taxable income in those years, did you make any quarterly tax payments or pay taxes at the end...

    Feeling Guilty

I've been feeling guilty lately. Being Catholic, guilt comes naturally. At first I thought it was due to the law suit against Panther, me profiting at the expense of my carrier, my partner. The guilt seems to run deeper than just that. It seems to emanate from the very core of my profession...

Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

One could look at it that way. One could also say Mr. Eubanks had the testicular fortitude to go after a company that did him and others wrong. Or the $2.5 million was a deal because it was less than the total of their ill gotten gains over the years.

You are automatically part of this suit unless you decide to opt out.

Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

For us ex-Cons detention was paid after the first hour. As soon as we signed a Panther contract that all changed. I held on to my Con-Way contract for 4 years before signing a Panther contract so my share of this settlement will be less than had I signed a Panther contract early on.

How could you afford to hold out? I watched most of my fsc drop to the structured rate or slightly below. Now I have to ask for a bonus to make up for lost fsc on short loads and loads going to the boonies.

Congratulations! Being a grandparent is great. Too bad one has to have children of their own first.

    Just getting started

Most reputable carriers, um let me rephrase that; most carriers that want to appear as being reputable will require a DOT inspection, a scale ticket and some type of cargo restraints.

Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

My guess is that individual payouts are based on a formula that takes into account number of paid miles and contracted rate per mile. Everyone's cut of whatever is left of the $2.5 million will vary.

    Inverter Drain on MPG???

Speakers move air. Large speakers move a lot of air. If these speakers face forward, then all that air will push the van backwards, or at the very least blow the windshield out. Either way, a decrease in fuel mileage will result.

Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

I'm sure you're right. The trucking industry is rife with carriers that illegally take advantage of O/Os. The plaintiff's attorneys are getting 30% of the $2.5 million settlement, plus some extras. I really don't care if I only get the minimum $10. This law suit might teach these asswipes...

Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc.

I received notice by mail this week that I am included in a class action lawsuit, Eubanks v. Panther II Transportation Inc. If you were leased to Panther as an O/O between December 13, 1996 and September 6, 2013, you may be eligible for a payment from this class action settlement...

    Carrier hoppers

The cost difference for an O/O changing carriers is significantly more than for a driver jumping around.

Have you cargo vanners tried hauling air freight?

You could say that. You could also say it is a round trip and 0% deadhead.

Have you cargo vanners tried hauling air freight?

Running out loaded and back empty is at least 100% deadhead and most likely more.

Getting the most out of fueling up gasoline CVs

I use credit cards that have no monthly or annual fees and have a rewards program. I pay my bill in full every month and incur no interest charges. Banks hate people like me but they continue to send me credit card applications in the mail.
