    The Case for America's Future

So, people that have contributed their whole working lives get nothing because they've been financially responsible enough to have a comfortable nest egg? That's just so wrong. Rich or not, you deserve a return on the investment. There should be an "opt out" option for all entitlement programs.

    Which Straight Truck?

While most don't need full-on RV style, a larger more comfortable bunk is an asset in expediting. We all experience waiting for the next load from time to time, sometimes longer than we would like. That, along with extended periods out, 2 to 3 months in my case and longer than that for some...

    October 2010 Locations

From the decor it looks like a room from about 30 years ago that would have been filled with men with fumanchu 'staches and women with really, really big hair.

    Many happy returns...

50 was the first "milestone" birthday that kind of got to me a bit. I'll probably be a complete mess when I hit 60.

    apportioned registration?

They may want you to have a commercial plate as opposed to a passenger car plate, but I don't think apportioned is even available for an under 10k vehicle.

    per Diem

There is a radius, I think 100 miles, so you couldn't use the per diem once you're that close to home.

TA Fuel Discount is no more

Ditto, pretty much. I knew my truck was capable of 12 given the right circumstances and it finally happened.

Nope. I have a white (imagine that!) M2 with C&M signs, and I got out shortly after that post. I'm at the Perrysburg Petro taking the rest of the weekend off and getting a water pump put on my Rigmaster Monday morning.

The spin will probably be something like, "See? All that PITA crap we're doing is working! Now, let's come up with some even more PITA crap!"

I'm at the Oak Grove, Mo. Petro after being jerked around at Fairfax Assembly last night. I sooo hate automotive freight.

How to get into the business?

You won't need your own numbers if you're going to sign on with a carrier. Getting your feet wet by driving one of the vans yourself would be a good idea to get a feel of what you're dealing with and what your drivers will be going through. Much of your T/T experience won't apply to expedite...

    Good versus bad

Yeah, I am a bit of a fathead. It's hard to find a baseball style hat that fits right. One of the best hats I've had is the EO hat I bought the year you and I went to the Expo. I'd really like to have another one of those. Lawrence has mentioned an online store...
