The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

Visiting my brother, and watching the Belgian Grand Prix on a TV the size of a windshield. Might be business as usual for some of you, but for me this is lush living :)

In 14 minutes I weigh anchor and sail for home :-) . Sure wish I was getting paid for the drive :-(

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

I only bid .80 because Alex is 150 miles from home, and my brother lives 10 miles south of it. I haven't been home since 7/15 :( I had hoped to earn at least $6-7K being out this long. Not even halfway there. I now have $90 in the bank, a twenty in my wallet, and a 3/4 full tank, all to get me...

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

There must be demons afoot out there; I got desperate enough to bid .80 on a run from Conyers, GA to Alexandria, VA and DID NOT get it. That is patently ridiculous

Just Getting started with 16' diesel cutaway box

I am actually the wrong guy to ask about box trucks of any kind, although I stand behind my answer above. I'm a vanner and most likely always will be, as I cannot get a medical card. That said, a 2500 Sprinter would be a better choice than a 3500, although I know squat about either of them. How...

Just Getting started with 16' diesel cutaway box

Between the two? The box truck. That sprinter, at 9990 GVW, would be a dually, which means you'd never get a skid between the wheel wells. Another issue, since you'll be stopped at the scales anyway: if you're out overnight (one night or 100, makes no difference), you will need to either put in...

    Insurance

I don't think they offer coverage for vanners, unless they've changed their tune since 2011.

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

Still in 'Bama. Two calls yesterday, couldn't set the hook. Hadda leave the J because it's a dead spot for my phone. It rang, was my carrier, but I couldn't hear anyone on the other end. Missed a run  Meanwhile, here in Birmingham, an African American preacher wants to go to Ferguson, MO...

The dog days of summer: AUGUST!

No runs for two weeks. Today, a shortie to Birmingham, AL. Waved at Scott & 'Retta as I passed Decatur :)

CNN and MSNBC stirring racial unrest in Ferguson, MO.

One of the businesses destroyed was a QT convenience store. I wonder in how much of a hurry QT will be to rebuild it

    Future Sprinters

No genny here, and my passenger seat is still in, by order of the Queen :) . We are discussing the possibility of teaming, so it'll be in for a little while yet.

5450? Tires filled with helium? That's not a lot of stuff, good deal on that. Mine weighs 6220, full tank, stuff, etc. I am a bit fluffy, but not too awful bad :p

    Future Sprinters

Yours is what, a '13? Four speeds or 5? Tire pressure is another biggie: try 65 up front and 75 or 80 in the back. Also, mind your weight, whether it's your own or how much stuff you're schlepping around. Toys like an Xbox, etc add pounds you pay to haul whether you're making money or not.
