Why does Fedex CC not accept applicants from Florida?

Consider this, FCC is a nationwide carrier picking up freight in every State. Much of the freight is of an expedited nature requiring ASAP pickup. Like many carriers, FCC leases independent contractors based upon historical and anticipated need in every geographical area. Therefore, it would...

//// Laws designed to screw you ?? Anything else to be aware of ? ////

You spend a lot of time blaming lawyers, the NY court system and their regulations when you should be blaming the fleet owner that hires drivers who are prone to preventable accidents or are not properly trained in recording a drivers record of duty status. In my opinion, in the instance...

Their best bet is to inquire at some of the parks they are considering to see if commercial vehicles are allowed, particularly if they want to overnight

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

You are correct Moot. I interpreted hapearce1's comment, "Initially, I just wanted a stopper" as a reference to the commonly seen lack of nothing but a stopper of forward motion of freight in cargo vans. My follow-on comment was not intended to be offensive to hapearce1. I've also seen...

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

Neither you nor anyone else should just want a stopper. You want securement front to rear and side to side. In my opinion, all van drivers should want to comply with the spirit of the federal securement regulations and be safe with a total load securement.

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

OK Roadtime, here's the way that I did my vans. I bought a 10' x 5' x 1/2" baltic birch plywood from a specialty hardwood store in MO. On the sides, I cut out the wheel well profile and some minor cutting in the rear corners to accommodate that area so that I could drop the sheet onto the...

    Cargo Van E Track Instillation

Either at or below the floor is your best bet. If above, a loose pallet nail or a damaged metal bin leg could fetch up on the e-trak and make a heavy forward load nearly impossible to remove. I found that the best method for me was to have two rows of parallel e-trak mounted on the sides...

Big Truck ACCURATE EMPTY WEIGHT/TARE WEIGHT

The 12,000 # axle has been a popular item on many of the straight trucks that I inspected and more often or not, empty or loaded. Larger and larger sleepers and the popularity of less expensive single rear axle models led to the increasing weights on the steer axle. As we saw the entry of the...

Big Truck ACCURATE EMPTY WEIGHT/TARE WEIGHT

Good thread Shirley. One good point often overlooked is the tag axle up and down weights. As a sweet Canadian would know, a down tag is not allowed in some western Canada Provinces, unless you are driving a cement truck, so freight weight must be legal with tag raised.

Big Truck How long out before home time?

I don't know him, although I did once live in Virginia. I think he might be a bored driver waiting for a $4 load in Laredo

Big Truck How long out before home time?

Andy, or most likely Carl B., You had us going for awhile. You could have kept up your sham posts if you had not gotten so ridiculous with your story. Your fairy tale does, however, serve as a great example of an owner that should never be considered for affiliation, by truck lease agent...

Big Truck How long out before home time?

Stick, I'm calling an audible in the name of common sense on this one. A driver may nap or sleep in a CMV without a sleeper and record off duty if the driver is relieved of all responsibilities for the vehicle. The purpose of requiring 10 hours off-duty after 14 hours on-duty is for the...

Big Truck How long out before home time?

Andy has shown that he is the antithesis of an owner for whom a conscientious driver would want to work, He has suggested that he may not pay a driver after driver caused damage to a truck. (The FMCSA requires payment within 15 days of driver submission of all required paperwork to carrier)...

    Stride Drive

Spyder A proper response to your questions depends on vehicle ownership. You say you'll be driving for a fleet owner so, we would guess that you will drive the owners vehicle and pay fuel and tolls and the owner will pay for all other vehicle expenses such as insurance and maintenance. If we...

Jobu: It is historically the nature of the beast here where posts tend to morph into unrelated topics of the OP. Here are the latest sleeper berth regulations with which you must comply. See also 393.77 which discusses heating your compartment. §393.76 Sleeper berths. (a) Dimensions—(1)...

    POLL exam expedite

Exam Expedite appears to be a fleet owner leased to FedEx Custom Critical and looking for drivers who will need to be FXCC qualified. You'll need to ask Exam about their compensation method, i.e., percentage, flat rate mileage, company driver (W-2) or sub-contractor (1099), deadhead pay. If...

I use to suggest products "such as" the 3M clear tint and now reading the latest 3M info in Moots post, It may be new and improved. It isn't terribly cheap but much cheaper than skin damage repair. 1000 spf is better than any greasy sun screen

    Texas Style Sleeper

Your Welcome. For anyone lurking here. 393 of the FMCSA says, in effect, that a CMV windows to the left and right of the driver must allow 75% of the ambient light under normal conditions, to pass through. Every truck that I checked with a tint meter showed a daylight pass-through of about...

    Texas Style Sleeper

BigStick, We'd have to check the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) to answer that question; however, one of the items that is, or should be, checked during a Level I inspection is the condition and operation of each of the seat belts in the power unit. So, my off-the-cuff answer is...
