LOL!!! Well Phil, wise is nothing that I ever been accused of! :p You are correct. We should all be exploring the business all of the time. It is only smart.

That is a bad thing. So much for interstate commerce laws. If FedEx decides to put us out of business that way, so be it. I am TIRED of all of it. $5000, or more, on a truck that will already have close to 700,000 miles is not a wise choice. At least, not in my book. I guess that it is time for...

    Democrats have meltdown in Wisconsin

ANYONE who runs away rather than fighting for their beliefs is a coward and shows a distinct lack of character. If I was in the district where one of these "bums" who ran was elected I would be doing EVERYTHING legal that I could to unseat them. I still say they should be arrested.

    Democrats have meltdown in Wisconsin

Yep, that they should. If those Senators accept pay or use those credit cards while they are throwing their tantrum they should be arrested for theft when they reenter the state.

How to start with no experience?

We had no experience when we started. I had to take a FedEx road test, my wife did not. Some body has to hire newbies or there would never be any new drivers. I road with owners for several months before I went out on my own.

    Democrats have meltdown in Wisconsin

Those State senators who ran away to avoid that vote should NOT be paid for the time that they are not working. No work, no pay. ANY teacher, or any other public employee, who called in sick and went to protest the bill should be fired. I also believe that NO public employee should...

We had 5 days of reefer work without pay last year. Twice we were under load when roads were closed. The reefer still ran, fuel was burned, there is no additional pay to cover that. I think the disaster stuff is payed for differently. We are NOT running any more of those loads unless we can...

We shall see. We too have had several loads that paid over $5000. I also know that I could give up all CA work and it would make little, if any, difference to my bottom line. I am not sure that a $5000 investment on a truck that is 50% used up is worth it for the 2 or 3 reefer loads in CA...

    What holds America together?

Does the U.S. Federal Government, under the U.S. Constitution have ANY legal authority to even be involved in education? I don't think so. I have NO idea about Canada. I have NO problem with kids learning a new language. I have MULTIPLE problems if the Federal or State government makes the...

    What holds America together?

My kids were in public school and I FOUGHT those schools the entire time they were there. Thanks to my lousy pay when working for the feds I could not afford private school or they would have been in one. I taught them the important lessons in life which often were contradicted by the schools...

Hillary Clinton urges Taliban to reject al-Qaeda allies

The ONLY reason we are having problems in this war, (it is not separate wars in Iraq and Afghanistan) is the Congress and the President won't let us fight it! Just as the congress would not let us finish off North Viet Nam. I would be willing to pull out for no other reason than they rules of...

    What holds America together?

I don't believe that the federal government should be issuing education grants. I don't believe that they should have ANY say in curriculum. I don't care if it is French, German, martian or algebra. They have NO business in education. Neither does the state. Education should be LOCAL. A students...

They Won't Close the Chicago Locks....

Somebody needs to "fix" those locks so they can never work again. City people are so foolish. They will help to destroy the economy of several states, help to cause MAJOR damage to an ecosystem that they are a part up and then scream about out lawing hunting and back Obama because he is so much...

    a new truck

I have a M2 M112 business class. I will never own another M2 again. To light a duty truck for expediting in my opinion. They start to rattle quickly. They have far too many cheap plastic parts that break easily too. IF I ever buy another truck it will be a class 8 truck. No class 7's or 7.5's...

I understand that Phil, with any luck it will balance out. It cost us a LOT last year. One trip we spent 3 days running our reefer when the road was closed and we could not move. (NO additional pay) Several times we would bring our reefer down, or up, to temp, sit for several hours and then had...

I love the pay cuts. If the owner of the freight or FedEx is not willing to pay for the fuel we burn to protect the freight that freight must not be worth protecting. Maybe we should just shut down our reefers during the hours that they don't want to pay for.

Ron Paul seeks vote to end foreign aid

The only way they are connected is in the way we look at them. We, as a nation, tend to try to handle problems in a short term manner. Put a patch on the problem quickly, then we can work on it later. We never do.
