    Florida and Expediting

I operate out of Florida and Tennessee. We have a team from your area (Tampa) Loads out of Tampa are rare. Most loads out are from Ocala, Orlando, or the Jacksonville area. No real struggles so far. Alot of inbound freight, so getting them home is pretty decent as well. As mentioned, do alot of...

    slow loads?

Do a macro 8 on QC You can then decide on 100,200,300 mile radius respectively It will then list all of the "express centers" and how many trucks are there and how many loads per day (21 day average) You can do one every 24 hours Hope that helps Davekc

    slow loads?

When you are reposititioned via the QC, it will tell you the city. If it is a paid move, you are requested to be within 25 miles of that city. Usually they will scan 100 mile radius when dispatching trucks. Then go out from there if no trucks are in the vicinity. As you learn were the customers...

    Fleet Owner???

Terry's advise is right on the money. It is not a path to go down unless you have strong capital, reserves, and really understand how the business works. One must also have the ability to adapt to numerous continual changes. "what is good today, may not be tomarrow" You can do well, but you can...

    Tall Van Drivers

Another option may be the aerocells. They are a foot wider than a conventional van. There are several posts and pictures of them on here. Check them out Davekc

    slow loads?

Not sure, but it may be an issue with van loads. My drivers arrived this morning in Charlotte and left within a hour from Orangeburg to Sterling Hts Mich. Hang in there as we are approaching the busy season. They are running a straight truck instead of a van. Sometimes the requirement for a...

    Front end vibration

Most KW and Peterbuilt dealers have them. Call the one closest to you and ask them. We use the KW dealer in Jacksonville FL. They are very good and reasonably priced. If they do the repair, the cost of the machine is free. Most others operate on that same principle. With what you have mention...

    CoPilot Truck GPS

My experience with all the different map programs is they take alittle finesse to get them just perfect. Raceman; let us know what you think after you have it mastered a little. Davekc

    Slow?

There is always a fine line between servicing the customer, and turning a profit. As operating and fuel costs keep climbing, the savvy driver has to determine where that line is. It starts with knowing what it costs to run your truck. Short loads can be great if they keep you in the freight...

    Lease Purchases

That is why they are called a fleece. I have yet to ever see a lease/purchace agreement that benefits the driver. Of course, there may be an exception, but I have never seen it. Great advise on seeking legal council prior to entering into any agreement like this. Davekc owner 20 years

    Tire Wear

You are correct. Attention to detail is everything. With regards to the front end, make sure they put it on a suspension machine. Issues with bushings, bearings, and king pins will be found with this test. A visual won't tell you too much. Davekc
