    Trivia

Broom you mentioned seeing those stars in and around Ohio. The first time I noticed them was in Texas. I figured it was part of the "Texas" thing. We've now noticed them all over the country, and thanks to Turtle (because I keep forgetting to look it up) I know the origins. Late4dinner, I...

    Best Starbucks Ever

Sounds like a good afternoon! As far as the Starbucks, I don't see what the big deal is, the coffee tastes burned to me too, give me Dunkin Coffee anytime.

    Parking a 'big rig'

Jbolton, you don't have to tell the driver how to do it, just give them a visual as to how close he is.

    Parking a 'big rig'

I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but too many times I see straight truck drivers drive like they are in a really big pinto! Coming from T/T, it does irritate me to hear straight truck drivers criticize. Until you've moved that 53ft trailer around in reverse, you have no idea. Yes...

    McCain's VP

I like McCain's choice, the thing that irritates me is that they describe her as a "hockey mom". Good grief! When was the last time you heard a man described as a "soccer dad" or some such BS. This woman seems to be at the top of her game, please describe her as such.

TS/Hurricane Gustav; This is NOT Good

Exactly Moot! It still amazes me that the people of New Orleans blamed EVERYONE but themselves for the circumstances they found themselves in. Example: Those that went to the SuperDome, then complained about the conditions, had no one to blame but themselves. I remember watching a news...

TS/Hurricane Gustav; This is NOT Good

We made a delivery at the hospital in Houma, LA. It's a neat little town and the people were very friendly. From the looks of the current track, they will be right in the bullseye zone.

TS/Hurricane Gustav; This is NOT Good

Piper, they did that during hurricane Hugo. If you don't heed the warning to leave, give us your next of kin information because there will be no one to rescue you.

    OK I'm ready for this

Welcome to EO! This is a great question, but one that does not have a hard an fast answer. It depends on the management style of the owner. We drive for an owner that allows us to make our own decisions about what loads to take. That being said, he has called us in the past to give us a heads...

TS/Hurricane Gustav; This is NOT Good

Let's get this thread back on track. There is a major hurricane headed for the gulf coast, and it appears that New Orleans learned a lesson from Katrina. Lets keep those affected by this storm in our thoughts and prayers.

    Who's staying out this weekend?

Deland huh? We almost bought a house there 20 years ago. Hubby and I grew up in that area...boy has it CHANGED! We are staying out, truck repairs tomorrow morning, then Seville next week. Luckily we had a good running week...next week will be a bust. Any of our fellow EO members...

    The other side of truckstops

Hey Cheri, don't you mean across from the Flying J? :p We had a fantastic truck wash there! The place is spotless! They also have really good burritos. The only problem, the grill closes too early. We've only stopped briefly at Jubitz and didn't get a chance to check it out. A pleasant...

    Load offer protocol

We also have the SMS product. I agree with Leo, it needs work, but, it's something. Our QC turns off after 1 hour if the truck is off, so the SMS let's us know to turn the truck on. We don't even send an "out of truck on cell" message anymore

How Do You Remove Graffiti From a Truck?

Nastiest Truck Stop on the Planet

I agree that Charlies is a nasty place...but if you're in a semi the options for parking in the Hampton Roads area are limited. Luckily, being in a straight truck or a van we have more options.

    I hate the word Diet!

Another easy way to cut calories.....when eating a salad, order dressing on the side then dip your fork into the dressing before taking a bite of your salad. It's amazing! I used to drown my salad in dressing, now I don't have to because I get that little taste of the dressing with each bite. :)
