I believe people have moved away from C units to D units. The idea is to have a large enough box to haul enough freight to stay in expediting. It's a tougher enviorment than years ago. If you're tough, you can still make it.

I'm not sure a class B would cover a four axle straight. On a trailer tandem you get 40 (20x2) if you have 10 feet or more between axles. A neighbor in Michigan had a slight "Canadian Spread" on his Volvo tractor that gave him 36 or more on his tandem.

His operation would dictate whether I'd want a multi axle straight or TT. The straight would be okay dock to dock. A lot of stress, bad tire wear if doing multiple stops with the four axle set-up.

I agree with you John. It cracks me up that so many complain about regulations and think the government should regulate to solve detention or rate issues.
