Everything is relevant. Probably depends on what that mileage guarantee consists of and what their line haul, DH, & FSC rate are.

Are many retail jobs slowly coming to a end?

Very true. They have them in our Walmart. One of their employees said they were starting to change out certain types of shelving to accommodate these robots so employees wouldn't be needed to stock shelves. Especially at night. The shelves do and show any price or price changes, and it tells a...

    Small Fleet Owner

Finding and hiring someone who is. Not a endeavor to jump into unless you have some type of background in this business. Odds of success would be much better in Vegas. Kind of like opening a restaurant and not knowing the first thing about cooking. As suggested, I would drive the vehicle you...

    large fleet

Sometimes that is just a front. Several times I have seen carriers say pay 1.20 per mile on the line haul, and add .10 cents on the backside. That is paid separately to the fleet owner.

Are many retail jobs slowly coming to a end?

In this instance, I think it is more warehouse oriented. I don't think one would have to go far from adapting many of these into your local Walmart. It won't replace every position, but it will certainly cut the amount of people needed to run a store. On the fast food side, McDonalds is testing...

Are many retail jobs slowly coming to a end?

Found this interesting today from Amazon. Using robots to basically replace employees. Looks like they have found an answer to that "We want 15 dollars an hour". Meet Amazon's busiest employee -- the Kiva robot - CNET

    AlumiBunk Owners

They work out of the old shop. The one in front of the Detroiter. I still think they have a place in Canada but it is called Crew Chief.

In many carriers eyes, both are disposable. The difference being it costs them more to replace fleet owners. Some will say it is because they have more invested. That is partially true, but the reality is that it also costs the carrier when a fleet moves out.

    The madness of Fergerson

Since you are new, you might not have realized that this specific forum (Soapbox) and a couple others are for subjects generally outside of trucking. Other forums are trucking/expedite specific and are listed accordingly.

    The madness of Fergerson

I didn't say you were. I was referring to our driver. Everyone is judged. How one reacts to it is what makes the difference.

    The madness of Fergerson

Based on your post, it would seem you yourself are promoting a stereotype. Why? Because you have eluded that fleet owners don't hire "blacks" and that carriers basically have that same mentality. It may be true that some do, but I wouldn't lump them all together any more than I would lump a...

    The madness of Fergerson

Don't know if "white people" can solve them, but it looks like many could use the help.

    The madness of Fergerson

Taxpayers of all colors are footing the bill so I have no problem with them offering their observations. But for those that have to have advice from one race, then they should seek out the ones that are successful. There are plenty of them and you can look outside of the athletes and...

    The madness of Fergerson

Not buying a lot of this or the excuses for a poor failed community. Some of it applies but the reality is a breakdown of these families and the government enabling too many of them. They are enabled with too much free stuff and teacher unions that have destroyed public schools. We spend more...

Why Is There No Outrage About This Police Shooting?

All of this including racial stops you name it is the clear reason every cop should have a camera on them. Not a cure all, but I have to think it would clear a lot of this stuff up. In many cases, cops act amazingly different when the camera is rolling.

    It may sound corny

I'm not sure. Probably somewhere, someone decided it wasn't politically correct. I think it started right about the time the president was doing apology tours.

    The madness of Fergerson

With a good portion of it promoted by the media. I'm not sure in my mind whether it is worse, but it certainly is different than years past. So many angles to look at.
