HOW do big rig drivers do it?

Speaking from experience, an 18 wheeler that is near maximum weight is very stable on relatively flat roads, so long as no emergency requires the brakes be used aggressively. Howeverm an 18 wheeler, regardless of weight, on hilly or mountainous roads can be very hazardous.

    Panther's physical Question

You aren't alone out there! Frankly, once companies start checking (and rejecting) higher BMI applicants, they might want to just close their doors. There aren't enough competent skinny drivers out there with experience. I don't know if Pather does, but they are trying to push peas up a rope...

What is the rule on living quarters separation?

What about the Unicell Classic Cube or the Areocell or some of those Penske box trucks or even the Sprinter 3500 with 11,030 lbs GVW? Is there a CLEAR regulation regarding them? Or is it just opinion?

What is the rule on living quarters separation?

When exactly does the DOT (or other law enforcement) get picky about real separation of living quarters from cargo area? Is it based on GVW? Is it based on type of vehicle? What is the actual law?

ATM RIPOFF at the Flying J in Grand Ledge, MI

I filed the appropriate claim at my bank yesterday. Apparently they will give me a "temporary credit" in a few days while the claim goes through whatever snailmaze it has to in order to be validated. Hopefully this turns out ok (except the original lack of funds anyway).

ATM RIPOFF at the Flying J in Grand Ledge, MI

Wednesday night I stopped at the Flying J in Grand Ledge, MI and tried to get $300 from the #1 ATM machine. It spent some time "communicating" and then displayed a "transaction denied" message. When I tried again, the terminal indicated that I was "over daily withdrawal limit". I called my...

Am I killing my diesel sprinter by letting it idle?

Our 2012 Sprinter has the optional programmable high idle . . . anywhere from 850 on up RPMs. I'm sure it will be very useful.

    Sprinter vs cutaway van?

Don't have to get the same mileage out of a gasoline powered van, just maybe 80% or so because gasoline is about 80% the cost of diesel . . . AND NO DEF fluid!

    Police Harrassment

From my personal experience; An officer asking "if I would mind if he took a peek in my vehicle" means, if you say ok, that you may have absolutely everything in your vehicle moved, checked, opened, asked about for three hours, and THEN have a dog roam all about the exterior & interior of your...

Yes, here is a XXL version, limo style. It would hold 6 skids lengthwise with a powered loader/unloader . . . ;)

    TA Travelcenter - Nashville

So, at the Laredo TA, the same identical "E" sometimes means "employee" and sometimes means "expediter" and sometimes means "either" or "everyone" or, maybe its a grade like almost failing (for the worst parking spaces along the perimeter). Or maybe its just plain STUPID! The real story is...

Are You Enjoying Your Sprinter ?

We have a 2006 3500 with 320,000 miles and it's been great to us. Replaced an EGR valve and a belt idler but still the original engine, tranny, & Rear end, probably because we change fluids properly and drive it like it has eggs on the pedals. We get between 20 and 23 MPG depending on the load...

    TA Travelcenter - Nashville

We were at the Laredo TA about 2 weeks ago. There are "E"s all about the perimeter of the lot along with a few at the west end that seem to be best suited for straight trucks. However, along the north edge of the east side there are 13 spots marked "E" and there large signs that state that...

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

You are right about the axle ratio being lower (higher numerically) however, the transmission changes as well. All the things that happen along the way from the engine to the tire affect the mileage. However, the real focus for an expediter vehicle has to be aerodynamics. Find a vehicle that...

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

And I was just told by the manufacturer that GVW over 10,000 is currently not available, although there are a few 10,000 GVW available with about 3,400 lbs. cargo capacity. This is not what I'm looking for.

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

So CargoMax is not 4 skid capable.
