I don't know about truck stops. Back when gas was around $2 per gallon I looked into buying a station. They were, at that time, making just over 3 cents per gallon on the gas. Their entire profit was made off of retail sales.

They are paying flat rate tractors to haul TVAL trailers $1.75per, is that correct? I am getting TVAL offers at $1.50 and I have to maintain a reefer, they don't. What gives? To be equal those of us who have to cover those costs should be closer to $2 per mile. They COULD take over all my reefer...

Yeah, for them, not us. It is driving our rates down to a point where I would be better off going broke. I would make more. As stated before, carriers are in business for themselves and the shareholders, not us. We have to find away to look out for ourselves in spite of what they do.

Lots of free medical care at med schools. Don't try to tell me that the poor should not have to go to student doctors. Vets have too all the time at the VA. There is always a way to get things done. I would not be surprised if this guy was "set up" to do this for the publicity.
