Is it worth the money crossing into CANADA?

For me Canada is very lucrative. High rates and also get out of an area faster because I bypass all those that think it is not worth it. Paperwork is not really an issue, extra 5 min of work per load if that. 90% of the time crossing the border is issue free. Moons ago I remember picking up...

Risky Business Why are so many Owner Ops getting their own DOT Motor Carrier Authority in 2019?

Doesn't this sound a lot like the "multi" model we saw in expediting? Pay your own insurance and haul for more carriers? At least here though if you have your authority and insurance you are compensated more than a regular owner operator. In expediting with the multi model, with a few...

    Ground Flight closing down?

Once in a while I browse through the classifieds on here to see what is available just in case. Today I see an add for a fleet of trucks in Glasgow, KY, including a bunch of yellow Penske vans. I know Ground Flight is in Glasgow, KY and I believe it is them. They have been around for a long...

    Bought a truck, now what?

A few months ago I talked to a guy I know and he became very interested in the expediting side of trucking. He has been in trucking for a long time, but only has experience in flat bed and car haulers. He said that he would like to buy a straight truck for a friend of his, etc. I told him to...

    Cargo Van Owner operator

Yes, even Panther who used to have orientations twice a week is not putting vans on now. That should tell us something. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

Cargo Van How slow is it?

Depending what you drive. My July in a straight truck has been pretty good so far. Don't remember if I did an automotive load the whole month though, if I did, there were not many. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

Fuel Tax Rate Increase in Illinois

Tomorrow, July 17th 2019 the fuel tax rate in Illinois will increase 24 cents, from $0.376 to $0.616. Are they trying to catch up with Pennsylvania?

It's a Team's Life Do you fear Kohlrabi?

Speaking of Kohlrabi, it is very popular in Europe. We used to eat it raw, made soup out of it, and probably some other ways that I can't remember now. Since I moved here though I don't remember exactly how many times I've had it, but it wasn't more than 5 times. Now I have to find some. Thanks...

You've Been Researching This How Long?

Getting a FAST card is not that easy. You apply, pay the money, wait forever, then you get a letter to schedule an interview at one of their locations (one of the border towns.) Then they mail you the card. Took months to get mine.

    Partner problems

Depends what the issue is. If not a big one, it might be worth it to suck it up and get your training in. 3 weeks will be gone before you know it. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

I may get hate for questions/comment but wtf

Were you thinking about settling in driving someone else's straight truck for the rest of your life? Or just a stepping stone to see if you like the expediting side of trucking? It might be required to take a pay cut for a few months and then if you like it, buy your own truck and make the big...

    June Load 1

What is up with clutches lately? Last week I started having clutch issues. Dropped it off at the shop and when they took off the transmission the input shaft had lots of play in it, ie, the transmission was on its last leg. I am at 748k miles and I almost scrapped the whole truck. When I bought...

    FedEx Drops Amazon

Good move from FedEx in my opinion. I'm pretty sure that Amazon got a good deal from FedEx based on volume. Amazon packages were the equivalent of cheap freight in expediting. Better focus on smaller customers where they are left with more profit. Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
